Guidelines
Exercise is the key to the best life and quality of life beyond health, and it is also the ability for everyone to participate and contribute to society. Complex needs of society, such as a sedentary lifestyle, require physical therapy professionals to engage with consumers to reduce preventable health care costs, overcome obstacles to social participation, and ensure the ability and quality of participation in social activities.
Although this is the vision of the physical therapy major, it also means inspiring others throughout society to jointly create, optimize, and all motor and functional systems. The following eight aspects are: [identity], [quality], [collaboration], [value], [innovation], [consumer-centered], [fair rights and interests], and show the scenarios of professional and social development when realizing the vision.

Identity : The physical therapy major will define and promote the exercise system as the basis for optimizing exercise to improve social health. Identification and verification of motor system is crucial to understanding the structure, function and potential of the human body. Physical Therapist will be responsible for evaluating and managing an individual’s motor system throughout the life cycle to promote optimal development; diagnosing injuries, activity restrictions and exercise participation restrictions; and providing interventions designed to prevent or improve activity restrictions and participation restrictions. The motor system is at the heart of physical therapist’s practice, education and research.

Quality: Physical Therapy Specialty will be committed to establishing and adopting best practice standards in the fields of practice, education and research as these fields evolve in a dynamic and changing world. As practitioners, physical therapists in clinical practice will adopt best practice standards in examinations, diagnosis/categorization, interventions, and outcome assessments. Physical therapists will provide assistance with basis and high-quality metrics to achieve patient/customer satisfaction and receive payments, work hard to prevent adverse events related to patient care, and demonstrate the ability to continuously improve. Educators will seek to disseminate the highest standards of teaching and technology, supporting collaboration and innovation across the academia. Researchers will work with clinicians to expand existing evidence and translate it into practice, conduct comparative effect studies, standardize outcome measures, and participate in interprofessional research teams.

Collaboration : The physical therapy specialty will demonstrate the value of working with other healthcare providers, consumers, community organizations and other disciplines to address health-related challenges facing society. In clinical practice, physical therapists who collaborate throughout the therapeutic care process will ensure the coordination, value and consumer-centricity of services through referrals, co-management, hiring of consultants, and mentoring and supervising care. The educational model will value and foster interprofessional approaches to best meet consumer and mass needs and instill team values in physical therapists and physical therapists assistants.Interprofessional research methods will ensure that evidence translates into practice and is consumer-centric.

Value : Value is defined as "the health results obtained for every dollar spent."
To ensure the best value, the services provided by the physical therapy major will be safe, effective, patient/client-centered, timely, effective and fair.
Treatment results are meaningful and cost-effective for patients/clients. Value will be demonstrated and realized in all settings of physical therapist service. Accountability plays a crucial role in demonstrating industry value, and it is the core feature of the industry.

Innovation: Physical Therapy Specialty will provide creative and proactive solutions to strengthen health services and increase the value of physical therapy to society. Innovation will occur in many settings, including health care service models, practice models, education, research, patient/client-centric treatment procedures and equipment, and the development of new technology applications. In clinical practice, collaboration with developers, engineers and entrepreneurs will make full use of consumer awareness and expand the scope of physical therapist services to more than traditional treatment centers [patient/customer-therapist]. Educational innovation will strengthen cross-professional learning, solve the needs of employment, deal with the problem of lack of ability in higher education, promote changes in on-the-job learning methods, and cultivate new educational models and interaction methods. In research, innovate and advance relevant professional knowledge, apply it in fields such as genetics and engineering, and bring new possibilities related to movement and function. New research models and improved evidence methods will be more convenient and quick to present in the hands of clinicians and educators.

Consumer-centered: The values and goals of patients/customers/consumers will be the core of the physical therapy professional participation. The physical therapy major takes cultural competence as a necessary skill, ensuring that physical therapists provide services is best practice help by connecting needs, cultural factors and values.

Fair rights: Physical therapy major recognizes the individual health differences brought about by imbalance in social development, and improves health differences through innovative service models, advocacy, attention to the impact of social development factors on consumers, and cooperates with the community to expand the help of physical therapy. The community serves as the entry point for the healthcare system and enters the community to guide consumers to receive physical therapy education and improve health awareness.

Advocacy: Physical Therapy Specialty will advocate for patients/customers/consumers as individuals and groups, managing and promoting change in a practical, educational and research environment, adopting best practice standards and approaches, and ensuring that the system establishes a consumer-centric health care system.

Strategic Plans are never "completed". SPTA regularly reviews the plan and updates as needed through a positive, conscious process that focuses on environmental changes and member opinions. By keeping the program relevant in time, the association better serves members.
SPTA's latest strategic plan is committed to solving 3 transformation areas: changes society, transform industries, transform associations. The plan is closely related to the 8 guiding principles of the vision.
