Lu You Who is
In the history of Chinese literature, Lu You is called " the greatest poet of the Southern Song Dynasty ", but such praise is not an exaggeration.
Influenced by his father, Lu You took the restoration of the Central Plains as his own mission and worked hard for it throughout his life. However, he also appeared "out of time" in the political arena of the Southern Song Dynasty for this reason.
At that time, the peace faction had monopoly power in the court, and they tried their best to suppress the war factions such as Lu You. One war faction even jumped in and stabbed more than 20 of his fellow war factions, and finally he was promoted to an official position to admonish the officials.
Lu You’s first wave of hope
It was not until Song Xiaozong and Zhao Shen came to power that the situation of the main war faction improved slightly.

In the first year of Longxing (1163), Zhang Jun was officially ordered to conduct the Northern Expedition. The initial war situation was very good, and the army recovered Lingbi and Hongxian. However, a disagreement between the two generals Li and Shao occurred immediately, which eventually led to The Northern Expedition fell short of success.
This defeat caused the main war faction to be suppressed again, and Lu You was also demoted from the capital.
Lu You's second wave of hope
Until the seventh year of Qiandao (1171), Wang Yan announced the war in Fuchuan and Shaanxi and garrisoned in Nanzheng. He was on the front line of the anti-golden army, and Wang Yan was also a clear-cut main war faction.
Wang Yan invited Lu You to his shogunate. Driven by his patriotism, Lu You agreed without hesitation and presented him with the "Pingrong Policy". The two prepared their troops and waited for the time.
Unexpectedly, a sudden transfer order from the imperial court brought their efforts to zero.
This was the only time in Lu You's life that he personally visited the anti-golden front line and tried to realize his patriotic military practice. Although this period of life lasted only eight months, it left him with an unforgettable memory.
Lu You’s last wave of hope
Perhaps God was pitying Lu You’s tragic experience. Fate gave him another choice and opportunity when Lu You was 77 years old, the second year of Jiatai (1202).
In this year, the imperial court ordered Lu You to revise the history of the country. During this period, Han Zhouzhou showed great desire for the Northern Expedition. Han Xianzhou deposed Song Guangzong, the son of Song Xiaozong, in the past few years, and established Song Ningzong, the son of Guangzong, in the past few years. He relied on the merits and power of the deposed emperor to dominate the government, but at the same time, he was also infamous.
Is it to protect his reputation and not have any intersection with Han Zhouzhou, or is he giving up his reputation for the dream of the Northern Expedition? For Lu You, there is only one answer. Therefore, Lu You strongly praised and supported Han Yuzhou's Northern Expedition, provided various cooperation, and at Han Yuzhou's request, he wrote poems about him, encouraging Han Yuzhou to fight against foreign aggression and make contributions to the country.
In the second year of Kaixi (1206), Han Kanzhou asked Ning Zong to issue an edict to send troops to the Northern Expedition. Lu You was ecstatic when he heard the news. However, this Northern Expedition was also defeated because of Han Yuzhou's mismanagement of personnel. The next year, Shi Miyuan made a coup to kill Han Yuzhou and sued for peace with the Kingdom of Jin.
At this point, Lu You knew that he would never see the Northern Expedition of the Song Army again in his lifetime. When he was on the verge of death, he left behind a masterpiece that has been passed down for thousands of years.
