Not long ago we reported the Gigabyte Aero 15, which we defined as a "suit thug", with the exquisite elegance of a high-end commercial book, but also has strong performance. In fact, there is also a Gigabyte Aorus 15G that is "same as" as the Aero 15G. If you summarize it in four words, it is "cold and fierce" - because corresponding to its vigorous performance is its cool C-sided surface that is a bit unbelievable...
▲ Aorus15G mold is "same as" as the Aero 15, and the interface layout is the same, but the appearance is more personalized and more ostentatious, and it is a typical small high-performance gaming laptop.
▲The all-black aluminum alloy body and bright black square buttons are very GIGABYTE's feature. The strong combination of i7 10750H+RTX 2070 (90W TGP, which can be understood as the Max-Q version) is also worthy of the positioning of the high-end gaming laptop of this phone.
▲The shaft/corner design of the imitation super sports car air intake grid is also completed by CNC cutting, which is very cool and is also the "iconic design" of Gigabyte's high-end gaming notebook.
28.8℃ room temperature WASD key is only 32℃
24℃ room temperature is less than 30℃!
Summer is here, and many gaming laptop users are saying "Barbecue time is coming" and "Hurry up and buy the heat sink bracket and keyboard (for external use)" - Indeed, for 15.6-inch gaming laptops, many models have a large C-side heat, and even Lenovo HP's mainstream gaming laptops are the same (especially the eighth-generation ninth-generation Core models). In many users' impression, gamebooks with "completely no heat" in the C-side or C-side game control area do not exist. Even if we have "numerous views", we only remember some models such as the Mechanical Revolution X9Ti-R/X10Ti (-S), and their WASD button area can be described as cool.
Nowadays, the cool C-side model is about to be "strong +1" - Gigabyte Aorus 15G made us think that the thermos gun was in trouble at first, so we used a thermal imager to verify it before confirming it.
▲This is the situation after 35 minutes of the extreme double examination machine at room temperature of 28.8℃ (a common temperature for indoor air conditioning in Chongqing in summer). Please note that the temperature difference of the entire C surface of the Aorus 15G is up to 10℃, and only a few areas exceed 40℃, most areas are below 35℃, while the temperature at the WASD button in the main control area of the game is only 32℃, which is lower than the human body temperature, and there is no heat feeling when you touch the hand. It is worth emphasizing that 32℃ is only 3.2℃ higher than the ambient temperature! This is in sharp contrast to the high temperature of the C-side where the eighth-generation ninth-generation Core gaming laptops are often 45℃~50℃!
What is even more exaggerated is that if the room temperature is further reduced to 24℃, the WASD button area of the Aorus 15G body is even only 29℃, and the hottest place on the C side is only about 38℃ - absolutely "cold"!
and such a low C-side temperature also make us a little doubt - is the performance release of this machine's processor and graphics card is not ideal? Let's take a look at its internal performance release and temperature status ▼:
▲Aorus 15G After a long dual-study machine, its six-core i7 10750H processor has a package power of 46.8W and a frequency of 3.26GHz, which is released beyond the standard. The processor temperature is 91℃, which is not particularly low, but it is indeed not high temperature. The RTX 2070 (Max-Q) independent display is TGP 90W version. After continuous dual test machines, it will drop slightly to 80W and remain stable, with a frequency of 630MHz (but note that it will run to 1500MHz to 2100MHz when actually running the game, so there is no need to worry about the actual release of performance at all), and the temperature is 78℃.
From the perspective of the internal temperature of the dual-study machine, the processor 91℃/single display 78℃ is considered good, but everyone also knows that the heat on the C side of the body is constantly accumulating. Even if the internal temperature is only 80℃/70℃, most models will eventually reach above 40℃ or even above 45℃. The C-side temperature of Aorus 15G is so low, it really requires some strength! For example: its keyboard part has made contributions▼:
▲Aorus 15G uses a mechanic keyboard that cooperates with Omron, with a key stroke of up to 1.6mm, which not only improves the experience in the game, but also effectively reduces the keyboard surface temperature (yes, the keycaps of the long key stroke are indeed helpful).
▲The double fan five heat pipes inside the body (a short heat pipe responsible for the video memory and power supply unit is blocked at the lower part of the heat sink) and the four air outlets are designed to provide a solid guarantee for the low temperature on the C-side of the machine. Note that there is an M.2 slot inside the machine that can expand the capacity SSD, and the battery capacity is up to 94.2Wh, which can provide a long battery life even if it is not plugged in.
In any case, Gigabyte Aorus 15G is equipped with RTX 2070 and has cooled the C side, which will bring users a very good user experience, especially in summer. In fact, its most equipped RTX 2070Super (Max-Q) model has a very cool C-side, so it is no wonder that Gigabyte dares to give the phone's cooling system the cool name "WINDFORCE infinity".
six-core i7+RTX 2070
provides strong professional performance and gaming performance
dual-test machine processor performance releases 46.8W, so how high performance can be provided for professional applications with single load? What is the power of the 90W RTX 2070 Max-Q? I believe this is also a topic of concern to everyone. The results of the Cinebench R15/R20 of
Core i7 10750H are 1279cb and 2791pts respectively. The packaging power of the processor can reach up to about 108W during the burst stage, and then drop to 85W, and finally drop to 62W and remain stable. 62W is also the PL1 (processor stable performance release value) setting of the machine.
We have introduced two newer processor benchmarks: Geekbench and V-RAY. The former is a comprehensive application test, integrating a large number of common single-core applications and multi-core applications, which can balance the performance of the processor's comprehensive application, with a multi-core score of 6141 points; while the V-RAY rendering score is 8883 points. The number of Shaders in
independent display is 2304, which is the specification of RTX 2070. However, due to the low frequency, the TGP is only 90W, so it can be determined to be the Max-Q version. But even so, thanks to the large number of stream processors, its performance cannot be underestimated.
▲3D benchmark test, Unigine Valley scored 6665, average frame speed 159.3fps; Unigine2 Superposition scored 12790, average frame speed 95.67fps, easily crushing the RTX 2060 mobile standard version (80W old model), and also surpassing the 90W new RTX 2060.
So, when the i7 10750H is combined with the RTX 2070 Max-Q, how is its application performance? Let us answer with practical professional applications and large-scale 3D games:
▲After Effects is a necessary software for video special effects production. Its rendering process will use some graphics card resources, so it can be understood as a test of "processor-oriented comprehensive performance." The old rules, 18 seconds of text special effects video rendering, takes 15 minutes and 6 seconds. This result is 53 seconds faster than the 15 minutes and 59 seconds of the i7 9750H+RTX 2070 (115W specification) combination that is both six-core and stable 70W performance release. The i7 9750H+GTX 1660Ti (80W) combination, which is ahead of the 60W performance release, has 2 minutes and 4 seconds; the i7 9750H+GTX 1660Ti combination, which is ahead of the standard 45W performance release, has reached 4 minutes and 41 seconds, which is 24% less time!
▲Media Encoder Video transcoding is also one of the commonly used software in video editing. We transcoded the 2.91GB 4K@60fps "Drone Shooting Scenery" to FHD@24fps. First use the software decoding scheme (at this time, the Intel series will participate in "hardware encoding", but it generally belongs to the category of software decoding, which means it mainly relies on the processor). In this project, you can see that the advantages of Aorus 15G are obvious - this is a real improvement in efficiency.
▲And when we turn on RTX 2070 Max-Q's CUDA acceleration, the transcoding time is crazily shortened to 3 minutes and 24 seconds! This time is even 16 seconds faster than the 3 minutes and 40 seconds of the 8-core Ryzen7 4800H+RTX 2060 (90W) (note that all use the latest 14.3 version MECC 2020 that supports AMD integrated graphics hardware encoding).
▲In terms of gaming performance, "Tomb Raider: Shadow" has high special effects presets, 97fps; while the R7 4800H+RTX 2060 90W version is 93fps - the low-power version of RTX 2070 Max-Q still crushes the high-power version of RTX 2060. In addition, the i7 10750H+RTX 2060 80W version is 88fps.
▲ "Total War: Three Kingdoms", preset high picture quality, 78.8fps; while the R7 4800H+RTX 2060 90W version is 73.5fps; the i7 10750H+RTX 2060 80W standard version is 69.6fps.
▲"Borderlands 3", preset high picture quality, 71fps; while the R7 4800H+RTX 2060 90W version is 66fps; the i7 10750H+RTX 2060 80W standard version is 63fps. The conclusion of
performance is: the combination of six-core i7 10750H+RTX 2070 Max-Q has strong professional performance, and there is no problem in dealing with large-scale 3D games with high picture quality!
Performance/Experience beyond cooling:
Details are perfect
You may have noticed that our article directly uses the term "high-end gaming laptop" to describe Aorus 15G, but we do not judge it as a high-end model because of its high price, but the "temperament" it presents in all aspects.
The exquisite appearance and design mentioned above are one aspect: the machine is a model with a very strong sense of design. Whether it is the supercar air intake grid shape of the shaft, the groove design at the top of the keyboard, or the mesh design at the tail, they are all obvious differences from mainstream priced gaming laptops - and it is the kind of "the difference in grades can be seen at a glance."
▲Aorus 15G not only uses an Omron keyboard with a 1.6mm long key range, but also has hexagonal grooves on the top of the keyboard, and there are longitudinal "beams" in the grooves to modify it, which is very unique. This is an exquisite design that you can't see in mainstream price gaming laptops. In addition, the 144Hz high color gamut screen of the phone has also passed the color calibration certification of Pantone ( Pantone , the company that sells color cards).
▲The mesh design at the rear of the fuselage is also very fine.
Aorus 15G is also willing to invest in the interface. 3 USB3.0 large ports, mini DP ports, HDMI2.0 ports, gigabit network cable ports, and practical SD card reader ports, which are not only high in specifications but also practical. As an Intel platform model, the unique native Thunderbolt 3 interface is naturally integrated - no matter what device you want to expand and plug in, Aorus 15G can meet the needs efficiently and quickly.
▲The only regret in terms of the interface is that the power port on the middle of the right side, the thick power cord has some interference with the plugging of the mouse and other devices.
In addition, Aorus 15G is also very good at software details: not only does it have an AI AI residency program that can automatically identify application scenarios and switch to corresponding power modes (for example, when you turn on the power without plugging in and playing games, it will automatically switch to power saving mode), but also provides the AORUS Control Center control center software, which not only detects the status of various components of the system, but also manually adjusts the performance release of the processor and graphics card in real time, while performing lighting effects and application management.
I also need to mention one sentence separately: Although the Aorus 15G speaker is not big (even a little small), the volume and sound quality are still good. That is to say, in the "three most intuitive interactive experience links" (screen, keyboard, and speaker), its performance is satisfactory.
