Meta's "No Language Left Behind" is a grand open source project designed to translate languages with the highest accuracy.
Meta (formerly Facebook) has made considerable contributions to the open source world. In addition to focusing on the Metaverse Metaverse and its social media platform, Meta is committed to various research and innovation efforts, such as React (a JaveScript library).
Now, Meta researchers have decided to open source a project called "No Language Left Behind".

Meta tries not to leave any language
At present, although there are about 7,000 languages in use in the world, most of the online content is provided in a few popular languages, such as English. This puts many people who don’t understand these languages at a disadvantage.
Although many existing translation tools, syntax errors can make the error difficult to read and understand. Also, if you want to translate content into a non-popular language (especially some in Africa and Asia), the translation experience will not be very good.
Therefore, Meta is developing the highest quality translation tools that can help solve this global problem.
NLLB-200 (no language left behind) is an artificial intelligence translation model that can translate in more than 200 languages. The translation results of the model in each language are determined and evaluated by a complex dataset called FLORES-200.
As Meta said, NLLB's translation results are 40% better than previous AI research methods. For some of the least common languages, their translation accuracy is even above 70%. Awesome job!
To help develop projects and improve the translation quality of models, Meta opens the source code to all interested researchers, including the NLLB-200 model, the FLORES-200 database, the code for the model training and reconstruction training database.
