Everyone is interested in going out – not just for socializing. Maybe we need to change the environment every day, or maybe we have realized that working in pajamas all day is not the best atmosphere to really get a lot of work done.
Where possible—the importance of rituals even includes aspects of our daily lives: morning bathing; putting on our daily armor; the transition from home to school, to work or anywhere we go; and the reverse transition (and stress relief) after returning home. In this way, the transformation is like appearing and returning from a cocoon, uterus, or cave. The items we use to enhance and serve these transformations serve both ritual purposes and functional purposes.
Of course, some of these items are more practical than others: toothbrushes, car keys, work bags. Ah, wait a moment. The work package can – and, in my opinion, should! – Serving functional and aesthetic purposes. Since you're reading this here, I think you might agree with me: Otherwise, put your stuff in any handy bag and go, right?
Perfect business package
If you have to carry a work package every day, it should be something you can enjoy. When I used to need to bring my bags in law firms, I wasn’t quite used to Hermès bags: although I wore Hermès scarf every day (the result of my bet) my husband wore one every day when we were dating and continued to do so during pregnancy, childbirth (!) and parenting, he finally admitted it ten years later and became an enthusiastic promoter ever since), I didn’t start buying Hermès bags until my eldest son was 3 years old, I was 34 years old and married for 6 years. So, while I was working, I mainly brought a Chanel Cerf handbag, which was really stylish enough for me at the time, and while it might be a bit bulky, it could be a bit bulky after dinner.
I like that handbag. This is a bag I bought with savings and it feels good. After a few disappointments (including a lovely Delvaux I bought at Saks, which quickly broke down and was sent to Europe for repair and eventually-refunds), I was confident of having a quality, well-made, practical and attractive everyday bag that helped me through the entire process from work to meeting to court to dinner. If I could buy Hermes options (or if I decide to practice as a lawyer again in the future), I would definitely consider these:
For traditionalists: Kelly Dépêches
If you are looking for a classic work package that is designed to be a work package with a lot of Hermes style, check out the Kelly Dépêches briefcase (Dépêches size: L 36.6 x H 29 x D 5 cm 36) with Kelly rotary lock closure. The inside is open and there is a zippered section on the back of the bag. For those who don’t need or use shoulder straps (I personally don’t, the straps always slide off my shoulders), this is a perfect bag for carrying a lot of paperwork and leaving room for personal belongings.

If this is an obvious suggestion, is this cheating? The original diaper bag handbag was perfect for work, and anything that could happen afterwards. Since platinum bags come in a variety of sizes, there are a variety of options for what you can carry as you want. If you have to carry a lot of stuff every day, 35cm or even 40cm would be better (just prepare some extra biceps curls in advance as a preparatory job for carrying a bag that may become a little heavy, especially if you slide a laptop in). Ultimately, you can't beat this style (as long as this isn't too flexible in the office).
If you prefer the security of zippers but don't want something irritating like Kelly Closure, this is a good choice. While there are a little bit of what you can carry, the Bolide is a very elegant bag that is great for a day and night choice in larger sizes (31cm, 35cm or 45cm large – actually anything other than a mini or 27cm). It also has shoulder straps.
Design is a very simple package – essentially a rectangular box with handles (both produced in elan or extended versions). They have no embellishment except the leather zipper heads, making them look pretty, but the relatively unknown design brings some hidden luxury. Although they are similar in shape, there is an important difference between the two: While we haven't seen much of these two designs lately, they are still in production, and, as I reported last spring, Victoria is the first Hermès package design to be produced in collaboration with Mycoworks, in the new sustainable material mycelium.
