Andrew Morton believes that there is no doubt that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle 's withdrawal from the royal family is the credit of Prince William .
In 2018, the biographer of the Princess Diana wrote a book about the Duchess of Sussex, titled "Megan: Princess Hollywood", which explores the rise of Megan and the flash marriage to Prince Harry, 37. , interviews with some of Meghan’s family members and close friends, examining the lives of the Duke of Sussex and the Duchess in the palace, and what ultimately led to their decision not to serve as senior members of the royal family anymore.
Morton said in an interview with the media: "I was surprised by the similarities between Diana and Meghan, especially in the first two months of entering the royal family. Meghan said she felt depressed and isolated, and Diana felt the same way. For Diana, she felt the palace was a cold place of energy - a far cry from what it felt outside. It surprised me."
Meghan was an American actress and married Prince Harry in Windsor Castle in 2018 and became the Duchess. In 2019, the couple welcomed a son named Archie. While the romance looks like a Hollywood fairy tale, the couple has renounced royal duties since 2020 because of their claim to British media’s intrusion and racist attitude towards Meghan.
Morton said that Prince William was the second heir to the British throne and was one of the reasons why they decided to withdraw from the election.
"Prince William obviously has an impact on this matter," Morton asserted. "I think Prince Harry is dissatisfied with his support for Prince William and Kate Middleton for so many years. At the beginning, Prince Harry was always friendly to Catherine. They were always joking together. William couldn't do the same for Harry, which made Harry very upset. There was no doubt that there was a disagreement between the two brothers."
Morton said that William, 39, did not immediately welcome his sister-in-law with open arms because he was worried about Meghan's Hollywood background and how it would affect the royal family.
"William is a cautious person," Morton explained. "William and Kate were together for eight years, and they broke up briefly before getting married. For Harry, Meghan's arrival was instant. But William felt it was too fast. He didn't know her family very well. I remember in the early years, any reports about Meghan's family were told to the media by her brother and sister."
