According to BBC on August 5, a stranded beluga whale was found near the Vernon ship lock on the Seine, about 70 kilometers northwest of Paris, France. Local officials are thinking about how to save this mammal that is more adaptable to the Arctic climate.
Officials said the beluga whale appears to be small and hope the public can stay away from it. Meanwhile, animal experts are confused about the whale coming to such a far south away from its original habitat.

Also, according to Reuters , Ramia Essemlali, head of the French Ocean Guardians Association of environmental protection organization, said: "The challenge we are facing now will be to feed the beluga whale and help it return to its original ocean."
Ramia added that if the beluga whale is directly rescued from the water, it may lead to serious consequences. At the same time, guiding it back to its original sea area is also full of risks.
In May this year, experts hoped to use sound stimulation to lure a 4-meter-long male orca back to the sea, but failed, causing the killer to die upstream of the Seine river in Normandy.
In 2019, an humpback whale entered the Thames river during the high tide, and later stranded due to a self-navigation error and eventually died.
