Compared with the past, this year's election is very "cold". The enthusiasm of the people on the island for this election is not as enthusiastic as before. Moreover, the fierce and tense atmosphere of large-scale elections in the past is rarely seen again, but instead presents a more "cold" atmosphere. So why does this phenomenon occur?
Former "legislator" Liao Zhengjing mentioned three reasons. According to Global Network , citing reports from the island media, Liao Zhengjing said in an interview that, to be honest, the biggest reason is that the people's dissatisfaction with the ruling party and are already discouraged. Even the green camp supporters who listened to the DPP's most and were willing to receive "high-end" vaccines in the end all believed that they were cheated and betrayed.
Liao Zhengjing was invited to serve as the deputy county magistrate of Taoyuan County after being elected as the first Taoyuan County Mayor on December 20, 2001. Later, he resigned as the deputy county magistrate and changed the track. In 2008, he represented the Kuomintang in the Taoyuan Coastal Constituency "Legislator" and served for two terms. He failed to re-election in 2016. This time, Zhang Shanzheng was elected as the mayor of Taoyuan. Although Liao Zhengjing did not have a name at the election headquarters, he vigorously helped Zhang Shanzheng to assist in the election. He was seen accompanying him in important coastal election occasions.
Liao Zhengjing summarized three experiences based on the phenomena he encountered during this election. First, the people on the island were dissatisfied and even disappointed with the DPP, and most of the people have reached a state of disheartening, which is the biggest reason.
In fact, this is not surprising at all. Since Tsai Ing-wen came to power, her measures have seriously affected the basic lives of the people. The energy policy of "non-nuclear home" has led to power outages and power outages on the island becoming a common phenomenon. In order to please the United States and Japan, the DPP authorities have opened the import of raised pigs and Japanese Fukushima nuclear food despite public opposition, which has brought a safety hazard to the people on the island. In cross-strait relations, the DPP colluded with external forces and frequently provoked, constantly escalating the situation in the Taiwan Strait, causing great panic to the lives of the people on the island.
Secondly, the epidemic continues to recur and is very serious. Liao Zhengjing said that six or seven out of the 10 families have confirmed the diagnosis, but many black numbers are not known. Unless they have to take leave at work or apply for insurance claims, the confirmed cases will not be declared on their own initiative. The number of confirmed cases is much higher than the published number, and these people will not come out to participate in the campaign.
Due to the epidemic, the lives of the people on the island have been seriously affected, which has also greatly reduced their willingness to participate in the election. Recently, the number of confirmed cases on the island has remained high, but in order to promote the sluggish tourism industry, Tsai Ing-wen has relaxed its entry and exit policy despite the reality of Taiwan's epidemic. Regarding the lies by the DPP authorities, Liao Zhengjing directly stated that the number of confirmed cases of the epidemic has decreased, so why has the death toll been increasing? The people's lives were not taken seriously, and the heavens were angry and people were resentful, especially those who were given "high-end" vaccines, those who listened to the Tsai Ing-wen authorities the most, but ended up being deceived and felt betrayed. Now some members of the DPP believe that many of the Tsai Ing-wen administration’s actions are too outrageous.
"high-end" vaccine incident has brought great trauma to supporters of the deep green camp, especially Japan's non-recognition of "high-end" vaccines, which has instantly boiled up. Even the Democratic Progressive Party's online thug Zhou Yukou stood up to criticize "high-end", which shows that it has brought great loosening to the basic foundation of the green camp.
Third, the DPP’s suppression. Whoever came out to assist the opposition party in the election was immediately warned, and many people were unwilling to express their opinions. Liao Zhengjing said that if he was visiting someone, the next day, Zheng Wencan, the current mayor of Taoyuan, called to "care" the other party. Everyone said they would support Zhang Shanzheng, but they dared not stand on the table, and even dared not express their opinions when they called. This is a serious matter. The DPP's move is clearly an election and is using any means.
In response to the current election situation, Liao Zhengjing said that he had conducted three polls along Taoyuan coast and was surprised that the coast was no longer "green". They felt that the DPP was really lawless, especially that vaccine procurement would be sealed for 30 years, and they were very disgusted. This means that there must be something ulterior motive, so they dare not announce it.
