Fan Wenli, a Vietnamese native, lives in Yongshun Village, Yongshengzhong Township, Zhufu County, Anjiang Province, Vietnam. Fan Wenli was originally a farmer. He was born in a very poor family in Yongshun Village. He has always lived a very difficult life. However, from 2019 to 2022, by selling iguanas, Fan Wenli transformed from a poor boy and became a famous rich man in Yongshun Village. And all of this has to start from 2013.
In 2013, Van Wenli visited a friend's house in Hanoi, but found a strange lizard in his friend's home. Van Wenli asked his friend why he had a lizard at home. The friend told Van Wenli that this is not an ordinary lizard. This is a creature called South American red iguana. Because of its good-looking skin, it is loved by many upper-class people in Europe and the United States. Many European and American rich people have begun to regard this red iguana as a pet.
This has begun to become a trend in Europe and the United States. When Fan Wenli heard that his friend had made a lot of money by selling red iguanas, he began to get a little jealous, so he also started the business of red iguanas with his friend.
In 2013, Van Wenli decided to buy a few red iguanas to breed at home. At that time, his economy was also limited. He only bought one male and one female with a total value of 9 million Vietnamese Dong (equivalent to about 2,000 yuan) South American red iguanas for cultivation. At that time, Fan Wenli did not expect that he would eventually become a famous local rich man with the 2,000 yuan.
When Fan Wenli first raised a red iguana, many people around him were also curious about this animal. He didn't know what he was raising. He kept hiding it until about several years later, as the number of wholesales continued to increase, local people learned that he was running the red iguana business.
In the first few years, Van Wenli always bought iguana eggs with his friends in China for hatching. Later, as the business grew bigger and bigger, he also began to look for new iguana breeds overseas (mainly in Thailand).
Whenever the breeding season, Van Wenli will arrange for male and female iguanas to pair and let them mate on their own. The female iguana can lay about 30 to 40 eggs each time, and it will take 70 days to hatch. Van Wenli said that when the female iguana is pregnant, its eggs are clearly visible on the skin of its abdominal area.
South American red iguanas mature quite quickly, and can grow to 1.5 meters in 2 years, and their weight can grow to more than 20 kilograms. Generally, males should be slightly larger. If properly cared for, their lifespan can even reach 15 to 20 years.
In the past, before this red iguana became popular in Vietnam, he raised this red iguana for only 15 million to 25 million Vietnamese dong. He could sell 500 to 700 iguana seedlings every year. In 2016, Van Wenli sold some old iguanas and earned more than 3 billion Vietnamese dong. Later, he began to import some high-end foreign varieties, such as Thanos, Snow Lizard, Red Albino, etc., with the price of each ranging from 50 million Vietnamese dong to 100 million Vietnamese dong.
Since in recent years, the wealthy circle in Vietnam has also begun to be popular with raising red iguanas, many rich people regard owning a red iguana as a symbol of wealth, so the price of this South American red iguana has begun to rise and its profits have become higher and higher.
In the past three years alone, Van Wenli earned more than 20 billion Vietnamese dongs by selling high-end foreign varieties of iguana seedlings, equivalent to about 6 million yuan. Although the profits of breeding red iguanas are high, not everyone can succeed. This industry requires a lot of perseverance and patience, and in recent years, the tastes of local wealthy people in Vietnam have also become increasingly sloppy.
These rich people don’t care about the price, but they require that the breed must be pure, and they have high requirements for the color, shape, and barbs and scales on the iguana. In addition to breeding red iguanas, Fan Wenli's family also has a mutant yellow python about 2 meters long and weighs 15 kilograms.
. Since he became rich, Fan Wenli has also begun to show off his outfit. He used to like to wear ivory products on his body, but he found that people could not tell that he was wearing ivory at all. Later, he changed to wearing gold and ruby products.
Van Wenli is superstitious about Feng Shui.
