The highly-watched Huanghuang High-speed Railway was officially opened and operated. The first train stops at , Huanggang East Station, and can arrive at Wuhan Station in just 1 hour and 6 minutes. After the Huanghuang High-speed Railway is opened, the one-way ride time between passengers and Wuhan and Huangmei is only 88 minutes, which is about half shorter than the previous existing road traffic operation time. The Huangzhou District, Xishui County , Qichun County , Wuxue City and Huangmei County simultaneously entered the high-speed rail era.
Huanghuang High-speed Railway is located in Huanggang City . It is led out from Huanggang East Station of Wugang Intercity Railway, and goes southeast through Xishui County, Qichun County, Wuxue City, and Huangmei County, and connects to the Huangmei East Station of Anjiu High-speed Railway. The railway main line is 126.85 kilometers long and has a designed speed of 350 kilometers per hour. It has five stations including Huanggang East, Xishui South, Qichun South, Wuxue North and Huangmei East. Among them, Xishui South, Qichun South, and Wuxue North are newly built stations. In the square and in the carriage, citizens pose with tickets to take photos and record videos to witness the joy of the high-speed rail opening. "High-speed trains are more comfortable and convenient than cars." Mr. Lei, a native of Huangmei, was very excited. He said that in the past, it took about 3 hours to go to Wuhan to take a bus from Hankou Jinjiadun, Wuchang Fujiapo or Yangchunhu to return to his hometown in Huangmei, and it took about 3 hours on the way. It takes about 2 hours and 20 minutes to drive a private car to and from Wuhan and Huangmei. After the Huanghuang High-speed Railway was opened, the operating hours of the Wuhan-Xishui, Qichun, Wuxue and Huangmei EMU trains were about 48 minutes, 60 minutes, 78 minutes and 88 minutes respectively. The itinerary for neighboring counties and cities in Huangzhou District, Xishui County, Qichun County, Wuxue City and Huangmei County in the territory were all shortened to within 20 minutes, greatly shortening the travel time of residents between cities along the route. With the seamless connection between the Huanghuang High-speed Railway and the Anjiu High-speed Railway that was opened to traffic last year, Huanggang entered the 2-hour transportation circle of the three major provincial capitals of Wuhan, Hubei, Hefei, Anhui, and Nanchang, Jiangxi.
According to reports, on the basis of the original Hewu, Hening High-speed Railway and Anjiu High-speed Railway connecting Hubei and Yangtze River Delta major cities, the Huanghuang High-speed Railway will play the role of our province's eastward connection line, further revitalize the high-speed railway network in the central and eastern regions, enrich the high-speed railway paths from Hubei to the Yangtze River Delta region, greatly shorten the time and space distance between the Wuhan urban circle and the Yangtze River Delta cities and Jiangsu and Zhejiang areas, and promote the exchange of personnel, material flow and information flow between cities along the route. It is of great significance to promote the complementary advantages of regional economic development, improve the layout of the railway network in the Yangtze River Economic Belt, promote the revitalization and development of the old revolutionary areas in Dabie Mountains, and radiate and drive the coordinated development of the Wuhan urban circle.
According to the train operation arrangements announced by the Wuhan Railway Department, 7 trains were planned to be launched on the first day of the opening of the Huanggang-Huangmei High-speed Railway. It is reported that the railway department will follow up on the Huanghuang High-speed Railway to operate the 24 EMU trains that have been announced in advance based on the epidemic prevention and control situation. It will also dynamically adjust and optimize the train operation plan for passenger flow changes during concentrated travel periods such as weekends and holidays.
