University is a symbol of knowledge. Being a university teacher has always been a relatively high requirement. The university teacher in the Han Dynasty was called the Ph.D., and the subsequent dynasties were generally qualified for the Jinshi and had to have a Hanlin background. It can be seen that the conditions are generally relatively strict. Since the establishment of the first modern university in my country, Beiyang University , the qualifications of university teachers are basically required to have experience in studying abroad, or have a university degree (there are very rare in secondary and secondary technical secondary school degrees). At the lowest point, you have to graduate from a master's degree. Generally, you need to graduate from a doctorate. Those "985" and "211" famous schools are basically exploring talents from overseas famous schools. In addition, extremely excellent scientific research results and scientific research projects are needed. Therefore, it is not easy to be a university teacher.
However, in history, there is such a university teacher who only has a primary school diploma but becomes a university teacher and leaves a story passed down from generation to generation. This person is called - Shen Congwen .
Shen Congwen was born in 1902. At the age of 14, he joined the army in his hometown of Hunan, , Fenghuang County, . At the age of 15, he started to go out to suppress bandits with the army, and became a sergeant in the military. Later, he worked as a slaughter tax officer in the urban area. In 1922, Shen Congwen took off his military uniform and came to Beijing, becoming a "district of Beijing" and was eager to go to college because he only had primary school education. He applied for the Yanjing University Chinese class, but was not admitted. I was listening at Peking University and lived a bitter life. Later, Hu Shi, , was unsatisfied. When he was the principal of Shanghai China Public School, he felt that although Shen Congwen only had an elementary school degree, he had achieved great achievements in creation, so he hired Shen Congwen as a teacher in an extraordinary manner. Because he was dull and had never studied in normal school, Shen Congwen stood for 10 minutes on the first time he took the stage to teach. I finally opened my mouth and finished the speech in 10 minutes. But it was still early to finish class. After all, he was an honest man, so he told the truth. So he wrote on the blackboard in embarrassment again: "I was in class for the first time and saw that there were many people, so I was afraid." After class, the students were talking and it reached Hu Shi. Hu Shi smiled and said, "I can't speak in class, and the students don't criticize him. This is success." Among the students, there was Shen Congwen's later wife, Zhang Zhaohe , the school beauty at that time.
Hu Shi's appointment of Shen Congwen is based on the recommendation of Xu Zhimo . Xu Zhimo recommends Shen Congwen because Shen Congwen has literary talent. During his time in Beijing, Shen Congwen began to create literary works and published literary works in "Morning News", " Language ", "Morning News Supplement", and "Modern Review". Especially in 1934, the representative of the novel "Border Town", which completed the "pastoral song" style, reached a peak in creation. Shen Congwen has created more than 80 works in his life, and is one of the most modern writers. Due to his unique creative style, Shen Congwen is known as the "father of local literature " in the Chinese literary world. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he worked in the Chinese History Museum and the Institute of History of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. He mainly engaged in the research of ancient Chinese history and cultural relics, and wrote "Research on Ancient Chinese Clothing". In 1987 and 1988, Shen Congwen was shortlisted for the Nobel Prize in Literature.
Who would have thought that such a person with only a primary school diploma would later become a good teacher who is "the most loved by students". He also served as a lecturer at Qingdao University , a professor at Southwest United University, a professor at Peking University, and a professor at national primary and secondary school Chinese textbooks. After liberation, he worked as a cultural relic researcher at the Chinese History Museum in Beijing and as a researcher at the Institute of , Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. He died of illness in Beijing in 1988 at the age of 86.
In addition to his outstanding literary achievements, Shen Congwen is most talked about by his love story.
In July 1930, Zhang Zhao and Shen Congwen met for the first time in Hu Shi's office. Principal Hu praised Shen Congwen as a genius and the most promising among Chinese novelists. Zhang Zhaohe disagreed, but Shen Congwen quietly fell in love with the school beauty at that time, and since then he sent out uncontrollable love letters one after another to express his admiration in his heart. It finally moved Zhang Zhaohe and got married in Beijing Central Park on September 9, 1933.
"I have traveled to many bridges, seen clouds many times, drank many kinds of wine, but I have only loved one of the best ages." This is a classic text by writer, teacher and scholar Shen Congwen.
