As one of the leading manufacturers of Chromebooks, Acer refreshes its product line with two new products, Chromebook Spin 714 and Chromebook Tab 510. Starting at $750 ($1,100 for the enterprise model), the Chromebook Spin 714 is the higher-end of the two, with up to a 12th-generation Intel Core i7 processor and a 14-inch 2560x1600 display.

As an added selling point, the Gorilla Glass used on its display includes an antimicrobial coating designed to resist stains and bacteria. Meanwhile, the screen's 16:10 aspect ratio gives you a little extra vertical screen space for increased productivity.

The Chromebook Spin 714 also features a Gorilla Glass screen with anti-microbial coating and MIL-STD 810H durability. Meanwhile, the Spin 714 is part of Intel's Evo platform and supports Wi-Fi 6E, an HDMI jack, and dual Thunderbolt 4 ports, which the laptop includes for good connectivity. As for battery life, Acer claims up to 10 hours on a single charge, and fast charging can add an additional 4 hours of runtime after 30 minutes of plugging in. There's also an optional fingerprint reader for those who want a quick and easy way to log into their laptop.

But the feature that sets the Spin 714 apart from many other Chromebooks is its stylus, which has 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity and has a built-in slot for easy storage. The laptop has a flexible 360-degree hinge with MIL-STD 810H durability designed to protect against drops and splashes.

Alternatively, for those looking for a more affordable convertible Chromebook, there's the $400 Chromebook Tab 510. Instead of a 360-degree hinge, the Tab 510 has a detachable 2-in-1 design powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 7c second-generation chip. For those who want to use the Tab 510 like a laptop, its Keyboard Folio Case is an optional accessory. The Chromebook 510 has a portable 10.1-inch screen, as well as a built-in stylus and MIL-STD 810H durability. However, its detachable keyboard is an optional accessory.

The Acer Tab 510 has a 10.1-inch 1920x1200 screen and is much more portable than the Spin 714, and it also has slightly better battery life, with Acer promising 11 hours of use on a single charge. In addition to the 5-megapixel webcam on the front, there is an 8-megapixel camera on the back. However, even at the lower price point, this tablet supports MIL-STD 810H durability, while having bumpers on every corner and a reinforced chassis make it even more sturdy and reliable. Like the Spin 714, the Tab 510 also comes with a built-in stylus.

In North America, the Chromebook Tab 510 is expected to go on sale sometime in July, starting at $400, and the Chromebook Spin 714 will be available later in August, starting at $750.
