Jiang Yiyuan was born in Changzhou City, Jiangsu Province on November 17, 1928. He graduated from Jinling University majoring in agricultural engineering in 1950. In October of the same year, he taught at Northeast Agricultural College (now Northeast Agricultural University). He joined the Communist Party of China in 1956 and was elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 1997.
Academician Jiang Yiyuan has devoted his life to the research of agricultural equipment. He has been at the forefront of scientific research and teaching for a long time and is known as an "agricultural machinery giant." He has served as a member of the Discipline Evaluation Group of the Academic Degree Committee of the State Council, vice chairman of the Chinese Society of Agricultural Machinery and the Chinese Society of Agricultural Engineering, deputy editor of the Journal of Agricultural Machinery and the Journal of Agricultural Engineering, and a leader in national key disciplines of agricultural mechanization engineering.
Jiang Yiyuan emphasized the importance of independent innovation in the integration of agricultural machinery and agronomy in scientific research work. In the 1980s, he led a team to create a pre-cut rice threshing and harvesting machine system, achieving the world's first technological breakthrough in removing the seeds while harvesting green rice straw as silage. It was evaluated by domestic and foreign experts as "the best technology for rice cultivation." "A major development for the benefit of farmers", made important contributions to the mechanization of rice production, and won the second prize of the National Technology Invention Award.
In the study of similarity theory, Jiang Yiyuan pointed out the major flaw in the assertion that "the component equations must have the same form" in G.
