It is said that the concubine Zhen is not only beautiful and lively, can sing, but also understands Guangxu best, supports Guangxu, and can be said to be like-minded with Guangxu. Guangxu was suppressed and his life was monitored by the Empress Dowager Cixi. He lived very depressed, and the concubine Zhen who shared his taste undoubtedly became his precious spiritual home in his gloomy life. Therefore, he particularly loved this concubine.
Zhenfei's death
And the empress dowager Empress Dowager, who has been jealous of her son's happy marriage since she was 26, of course Not used to the kindness and love of these two people all day long. Moreover, she is not in harmony with Guangxu, and Concubine Zhen dared to support Guangxu. Therefore, she regarded Concubine Zhen as a thorn in her eyes and put her in the cold palace. Before Cixi led Guangxu to flee west, he was determined to take the opportunity to get rid of Zhenfei's dignity for fear of losing her royal dignity if something happened in the years of war and chaos. So she ordered the concubine to sneak out of Lenggong, and after a bitter insult, ordered Li Lianying and another eunuch Cui Yugui to throw the concubine Zhen into the well behind Yihexuan. Concubine Zhen yelled before her death that Li Ruida rescued me. This was heard by many eunuchs nearby. Therefore, there were rumors in the palace that Li Lianying personally dropped Concubine Zhen into the well.
Emperor Guangxu died suddenly
On the afternoon of November 14, 1908, Emperor Guangxu, who was only 38 years old, died suddenly. In the afternoon of the next day, the Empress Dowager Cixi left her hands west. The difference between the two before and after their death was only 20 hours. When Cixi passed away, Pu Liang, who was the minister of rituals at the time, saw with his own eyes that an eunuch sent a tureen from the Cixi Palace, claiming that it was the tala (yogurt) that the queen mother gave to the long live master, and it was delivered at tala (yogurt) Guangxu died shortly thereafter.
In 2008, one hundred years after Guangxu's death, researchers used modern forensic methods to repeatedly examine, study and analyze the hair, remains, and clothes of Guangxu's body. In the stomach of each piece of clothing, arsenic content was found at least twenty times more than normal, and arsenic compounds are commonly known as highly toxic arsenic. From this the experts concluded that Guangxu was poisoned to death.
Before Guangxu's death, Cixi was already in his deathbed, and it was impossible to arrange for Guangxu to be poisoned by himself. The only person who could help her arrange the matter was Li Lianying. Li Lianying's operation killed Guangxu. In the second year of Guangxu's death, such rumors began to appear in the palace, and the court forces believed in this. Li Lianying was from Cixi, and he would not fail to implement what Cixi meant.
So did the concubine Zhen and Emperor Guangxu really kill Li Lianying? What is the relationship between Li Lianying and Guangxu?
Late Qing literati Wang Zhao once told such a story. After the "Xin Chou Treaty" was signed in 1901, the Empress Dowager Cixi, who had fled west for more than a year, returned to Beijing with Emperor Guangxu. When they reached Bao, the group stopped to rest. In the evening, Li Lianying went to Emperor Guangxu's room again after she settled in Cixi. Seeing that Guangxu had no bedding at the time, he knelt on the ground and hugged Guangxu's thigh and shouted: "The servant should die." Immediately returned to his room and took his bedding for Guangxu to use. When Guangxu later recalled the sufferings of the westward flight, I would not have lived today without Li Yanda.
It can be seen from this incident that Li Lianying has a pretty good relationship with Emperor Guangxu. Will he kill the concubine Ai of Guangxu?
In the book "The Eunuch Talks to the Record", an eunuch named Dai Shouchen recalled that at that time one of his colleagues, Wang Xiang, saw Concubine Zhen being thrown into the well with his own eyes, and Wang Xiang told him The truth is different from the rumors in the market.
Wang Xiang said that after the Queen Mother scolded Zhen Fei bitterly, she was afraid that the time would be delayed for a long time, so she shouted and hurry up. Cui Yugui stepped forward, pulled Zhen Fei over, and even carried her Threw her into the well. Before she was in danger, the concubine Zhen called loudly: "Li Jingda, Li Jianda". Judging from the eunuchs present, the death of Concubine Zhen was actually CuiLi Lianying did not participate in what Yugui did. But Zhen Fei shouted Li Jingda to save me, but she was asking Li Lianying for help, and Li Lianying was not there at the time.
Regarding this incident, the Li family also unanimously denied that the concubine Zhen was killed by Li Lianying. They said that the day before escaping west, the Empress Dowager Cixi gave Li Lianying a day off and told him to go back to pack up his things. Just when Li Lianying returned home, Zhen Fei was killed. When Li Lianying learned the news, she regretted it very much.
Li Lianying is a person with all sides. He knows that although the empress dowager is favored now, after all, Cixi is already very old. If he deceives others and offends Guangxu, after a hundred years after the empress dowager, Guangxu will be in power. It's time to move. Therefore, in this battle between the emperors and queens, Li Lianying ostensibly stood on Cixi's side, but secretly he was actively repairing and maintaining the relationship with Guangxu. He could not do anything to offend or harm Guangxu. Even if Guangxu was seriously ill in the end, there was no need to be afraid, but after all, there was still a stall behind him. Empress Dowager Cixi was dying at this time. Seeing that her patron would fall, how could Li Lianying make enemies for herself at this time?
