On September 21, 2013, Fu Xinde died in the hospital at the age of 113.
He was born in . He experienced the semi-colonial and semi-feudal society of China, the Republic of China period, and witnessed the establishment and development of the new China with his own eyes. He is known as the "living fossil of the War of Resistance Against Japan".
He is a witness of the times and also our national anti-Japanese hero!

Although he is now highly respected, he lived a particularly sad life during the first time when New China was founded. Especially in the decade of turmoil in our country, he always lived in torture. Fortunately, he was firm in his mind, survived that period of time, and witnessed the changes in the new China over the past century.
So, as a national hero, why did his life suffer so much, even so serious that he was sentenced to death by 9 times?
1. Save the country first and then save the people from illness
Fu Xinde was born in an ordinary peasant family in Xiangcheng, Henan Province in 1900.
In that era, life was no longer easy and reading was not a must.
Fortunately, Fu Xinde's parents thought that reading and literacy were important, so they sent him to a private school in the village to study.
With the social environment at that time, Fu Xinde was able to study in a private school for a few years, which was already the best efforts his parents had done for him.
Fu Xinde When he was 28 years old, Christian preachers in Jinan, Shandong wanted to open a medical school with no tuition and free teaching of Western medicine.
, who was thinking of learning a craft, made up his mind to study medicine after seeing that medical school admissions are exempt from tuition fees.
If nothing unexpected happens, Fu Xinde will become a doctor after graduating from medical school to cure diseases and save lives. However, the incident happened. When he was 29 years old, the Japanese army was rampant in Jinan, burning, killing, looting, and doing all kinds of evil.
According to statistics, more than 4,000 Chinese military and civilians killed by the Japanese army during that period.
They not only killed ordinary people and officers and soldiers, but also did not let government officials go.

At that time, Jinan City was like purgatory, with gunfire everywhere and screaming Chinese people everywhere, and the whole city was shrouded in sadness and despair.
Since the school happens to be in the center of Jinan, it has become one of the goals of the Japanese. During that time, the Japanese army rushed into the campus to kill people at any time.
Fu Xinde watched the students be brutally killed by the Japanese army one by one, but he was powerless.
He is just a student in the medical school, and the hands used to get scalpel have no ability to protect themselves.
He learned the skills of curing diseases and saving people, but he could not save these dead people one after another.

Since these hands cannot save people now, we can only save the country first and then the people.
Otherwise, the country will not exist, where will the people stay?
So, he decided to join the army and burn his youth for the country and the nation.
After he put on his military uniform, he was burdened with the responsibility of his family and country.
has been in the army for many years, and he has always been at the forefront of the War of Resistance.
Although he is a position doctor, he is not in the front like our soldiers who charge and kill the enemy. However, as a position doctor, he kept running in the rain of bullets to treat the injured soldiers!
2. To save people, we will fight on all battlefields
After the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, the troops fought everywhere, and Fu Xinde also ran around.
He made great contributions to many battles such as " Battle of Shanghai ", " Nanjing Defense Battle " and " Wuhan Battle ".
The Japanese army has been planning for Shanghai for a long time. Shanghai is one of the cities that China attaches most importance to. It is also the investment place for many Western countries , which has concessions and a large number of expatriates.
In order to make Western countries shift their attention from the three northeastern provinces of , and to put pressure on the National Government, the Japanese army began to attack Shanghai on a large scale.
On August 13, 1937, two Japanese officers and soldiers deliberately provoked trouble at Shanghai Hongqiao Military Airport.
After the Chinese guards were unable to dissuade him, they had to shoot and kill him.
This move is exactly what the Japanese army wants. They deliberately made the Chinese guards "make mistakes" and "make famous divisions" to attack Shanghai.
The Japanese army proposed a condition that the Chinese government could not agree to, so as to send troops to attack Shanghai openly. They demanded the removal of the Shanghai Guard and Fortifications.
The Japanese army's wishful thinking is really "Sima Zhao's heart is known to everyone." No matter how bad the Chinese government is, it cannot do such a humiliating thing. If Shanghai is just given up, it will be an eternal stain.
Moreover, the consequences of doing so will only make the Japanese army think that China is weak and can be bullied, and then it will be even worse.
Therefore, the National Government strongly rejected the Japanese army's request, but this also gave the Japanese army a reason to attack Shanghai.
On August 13, the Jiangwan area of Shanghai, Zhabei, and the center of Shanghai were attacked by Japanese artillery fire, and the "Shanghu Battle" officially broke out.

At the Huade intersection in Shanghai, more than 300 officers and soldiers from the Second Battalion of the 215th Regiment of the 36th Division of the Chinese Army fought against the enemy here. After launching a vigorous hand-to-hand combat , all died.
In the battle to guard Baoshan , more than 500 officers and soldiers of Yao Ziqing's camp also died heroically after repelling the enemy's attacks several times.
Finally, under the siege of the Japanese army, the Kuomintang had to order a retreat.
Although the National Revolutionary Army finally retreated, they also sacrificed their lives and fought with all their strength during the battle.
Although the Chinese army failed to save Shanghai in this war. However, Chinese soldiers are not afraid of powerful enemies, and suicide-style battles shocked the whole world.
This battle is still honorable even if it is defeated. Although the position was lost, it also caused a huge blow to the enemy. The Japanese army suffered more than 40,000 casualties, which also made the Japanese army know that it was impossible to "destroy China in three months".

Some of the officers and soldiers retreated from the Battle of Songhu retreated to Nanjing. When the Japanese army attacked Nanjing, they fought for the guards again.
In every battle, our soldiers tried their best to defend their positions, but because the enemy was strong and we were weak, in order to preserve our strength, the troops had to break through and retreat in the future.
Nanjing is lost! At the same time, Wuhan is also facing a crisis.
Because Wuhan was the military, political and economic center of the National Government at that time, it was also a city that the Japanese army focused on attacking.
In June 1938, Wuhan was attacked by Japanese troops. The Chinese army fought tenaciously for four months, greatly eliminating the Japanese army's livelihood and temporarily suspending the Japanese army's invasion.
In China's history of the War of Resistance Against Japan, every battle won the final victory at the cost of our soldiers' flesh and blood.

On the cruel battlefield, the soldiers were killed and injured, and they were already ready for sacrifice, but if there was a front-line opportunity, everyone wanted to survive.
So, the existence of position doctors is the hope of the wounded on the battlefield. In many battles, such as

3. The tragic "Longling Bloody Battle"
In the counterattack battle in northern Myanmar and western Yunnan, the Chinese army killed and wounded more than 25,000 Japanese troops, guarded the Chinese border, and opened up the international transportation line in southwest of .

But looking at the entire western Yunnan battle, the casualties of the Chinese army are particularly heartbreaking.
According to statistics, during the entire battle, 31,443 Chinese troops were killed and 35,948 were injured!
The most tragic and longest battle is the "Longling Bloody Battle".
After the "Wuhan Battle", the Japanese army's plan to occupy China could not be smoothly advanced, so he decided to attack from the outside.
In order to cut off China's international strategic material channels, the Japanese army plans to destroy the " Yunnan-Burma Highway ".
In May 1942, the Japanese army invaded the western Yunnan region of China from northern Myanmar and marched to the west bank of Nujiang River. Because Huitong Bridge had been blown up by the Chinese army, they could not cross the river and had to defend this place.
In May 1944, the Chinese army launched a counterattack against the Japanese army on the west bank of the Nujiang River.
Longling is just between Mangshi and Songshan on the Yunnan-Burma Highway, and is also a fork in the Tenglong Highway.
If the Chinese army takes down Longling, it can rush to support Songshan, Pingga, Tengchong , Mangshi and Zhefang bases at any time.
So, the battle in Longling is crucial!
On May 11, 1944, the 11th Army of the Chinese Expeditionary Force divided into three groups to attack Longling.
On July 4, Fu Xinde's troops were located received an order to cross the river to attack Longling.

Even though Fu Xinde has been in the army for many years and has experienced countless battles, he has been used to life and death on the battlefield, and is still shocked by the tragic battle scenes in the "Longling Bloody Battle".
In order to win the battle, our soldiers fought with their lives. After the bullets were fired, they fought directly.
What impressed Fu Xinde the most was the scene he saw when he led the rescue team to clean the battlefield on the Longling battlefield.
At that time, he had the best personal relationship with Gao Jiejun, the company commander of the 261st Regiment of the 87th Division, but the war was ruthless, and in the end they were unable to get off the battlefield together.
When the troops were transferred to Huangcaoba for battle, Company Commander Gao had suffered from very serious stomach problems due to years of hard work and overwork. However, he still rushed to the battlefield without hesitation and dealt with the enemy on the Fengbiaopo Pass position for more than ten days.
In his last battle, there were already bullets in his gun, but this was not the end of the battle. has no bullets, there are people. For our soldiers, they themselves are the last position and the last weapon.
Company Commander Gao and the only five or six remaining soldiers fought against the enemy to the end in close combat. After the war ended, Fu Xinde led the medical team members to clean the battlefield.
He saw at least 80 pairs of soldiers who bit each other to death on the battlefield. Looking at Company Commander Gao again, he still had a Japanese army ear in his mouth. In the battle of Longling, the Chinese army killed and wounded 10,640 Japanese troops, which was the battle with the largest number of enemies in the entire western Yunnan War of Resistance. , the number of casualties in the Chinese army reached 29,803. Looking at the number of casualties among Chinese officers and soldiers is really heartbreaking!
4. The combat hero has been repeatedly persecuted
The war career over the past few years has made Fu Xinde hate war. If he hadn't been to fight against foreign enemies and defend the country and nation, he would not have gone to the battlefield.
Therefore, in 1945, after the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, Fu Xinde immediately submitted a resumption application and returned to the field with the rank of major.
From then on, he has been staying in Longling where he has fought for, guarding his comrades here and living the stable life they have always yearned for.
However, fate is a mess, but heroes cannot get the treatment they deserve, but instead suffer a lot.
After liberation, he was arrested and sentenced to death nine times. Fortunately, every time it was a false alarm and he was acquitted on the execution ground.
1969, when Fu Xinde was 69 years old, fate joked with him again. , he is nearly seventy years old, and he is actually sent to Changlinggang, Songshan for renovation.

Over the years, he has been wandering in prison and release, and has been unable to have a normal life at all. The burden of the family is all on his wife.
After being released from prison for the ninth time, he thought that he could accompany his wife and children at home, but what he had received was the result of the decentralization and transformation.
All the torture he suffered over the years is that he used to work as a military doctor in the Kuomintang army. originally thought that this battlefield career in the War of Resistance Against Japan was his merit in defending his country, but who would have thought it would become his "sin".
People who originally came out of the Anti-Japanese War should be treated kindly, not seeking wealth and honor, at least they should live a stable life. Who knows that Fu Xinde's life only has hardships and twists and turns.
It was not until four years later that the storm subsided that Fu Xinde could finally go home and live the ordinary life he had been thinking about. After returning home, he picked up his old business again and became a rural doctor. The government also issued him a medical qualification certificate.
Kindness is the quality engraved in his bones. Although their family life is difficult, he has never stopped helping others.
Generally, those who come to see him for treatment are poor families who cannot afford medical expenses, and even terminally ill patients. A serious illness means that more medication is needed and more thoughtful.
But Fu Xinde does not take any advice to treat people. Not only that, he also often gives patients free medicine, most of which were picked by him after working hard to go up the mountain.
He has practiced medicine for many years and can be called a true "medical benevolence".
5. True love can withstand all sufferings
In Fu Xinde's life, the luckiest thing should be to meet his beloved girl and stay with her for the rest of her life!
Fortunately, my wife did not give up on him and gave him great support and courage.
After the demobilization in Longling, Fu Xinde fell in love with a girl named Li Zhuzhi at first sight.
The two are 20 years apart, but in the face of love, age is not a problem. Li Zhuzhi is a brave girl. She was deeply moved by this anti-Japanese hero and married him without hesitation.
The two had a very good relationship after marriage, and they gave birth to six boys and one girl and seven children. When Li Zhuzhi was born in the seventh year of the family, she suffered the most. Not only was her body paralyzed due to childbirth, but she was also unable to take care of her children, and her body and mind were tortured.
After a brief sweetness, it was even more painful to separate, but it did not affect the relationship between the two at all.
During those most difficult days, Li Zhuzhi silently held up the heavy responsibility of the family, taking care of the children while waiting for Fu Xinde to come back.

A woman is carrying six and a half-year-old children and is pregnant. You don’t have to think about how difficult life is. But Li Zhuzhi insisted on it, without any complaints, and never complained.
During the period when Fu Xinde was deported, their youngest child was born. But it may be because of insufficient nutrition during pregnancy and it is particularly dangerous during childbirth. Although the child was born successfully, Li Zhuzhi's lower limbs were paralyzed.
Fu Xinde was still transforming at that time, and Li Zhuzhi himself was paralyzed, and the other children were still young, so Li Zhuzhi had to send the child to raise him.
Fortunately, Fu Xinde found the child again after he came back, otherwise this would become their lifelong pain.
Beautiful love always makes people strong. After Li Zhuzhi was paralyzed, she was still very concerned about Fu Xinde on the farm, so she asked the children to carry her on the bed and walk to Changlinggang step by step.
Several half-year-old children were carrying a paralyzed person on the bed board. This picture is very sad no matter how you look at it. Needless to say, Fu Xinde looked at his wife and children with guilt, feeling deeply powerless.
Fortunately, the darkness will always pass, and dawn will always come. After the
incident subsided, Fu Xinde finally went home to reunite with his wife and children. Over the years, he owed them a lot and could only compensate them well in the days ahead.After returning home, Fu Xinde went up the mountain to collect herbs and cured his paralyzed wife bit by bit. This can be called a miracle, just as Fu Xinde's daughter-in-law said: "This may be the power of love!"
