Like other parts of the country, from the late 1950s to the 1970s, the former Heyuan County also established a number of industrial enterprises.

1998, Lianping Rolling Steel Plant.

1998, Longchuan Laolong, Longchuan Glass Factory.
Some of these industrial enterprises are owned by the whole people (state-owned), such as the former Heyuan County Agricultural Machinery Factory, Heyuan County Nitrogen Fertilizer Factory (changed to Heyuan Sugar Factory after 1980), Heyuan County Agricultural Machinery Factory, Heyuan County Rosin Factory, Heyuan County Paper Factory, Heyuan County Switch Factory, Heyuan Dongjiang Shipyard, etc.; some are collectively owned, such as the iron factory, machinery factory, foundry, wood factory, textile factory, shoe and tannery factory, garment factory, etc. of Heyuan Second Light System. These industrial enterprises, either state-owned or collectively owned, formed the industrial economy pillars of the place where they were located.

as a microcosm, some data can show the historical trajectory: In the early days of the founding of New China, there were 38 factories in the former Heyuan County. Among them are local state-owned printing factories, and private enterprises include Fucheng Yusheng Grain Processing Factory and 34 rosin factories (mostly distributed in various townships). In 1978, the original Heyuan County achieved a total industrial output value (at that time, the same below) of 43.1793 million yuan. Among them, the national industry was RMB 23.4603 million and the collective industry was RMB 19.719 million. In 1978, the industrial output values completed by several state-owned factories in Heyuan County were: 1.221 million yuan for nitrogen fertilizer factory; 2.233 million yuan for agricultural machinery factory; 1.138 million yuan for switch factory; 1.847 million yuan for cement factory; and 446,000 yuan for paper mill.

1988, Heyuan was established as a prefecture-level city, and its jurisdiction was governed by five mountainous counties and districts (Heping, Lianping, Longchuan , Dongyuan , Zijin , and Yuancheng). With the gradual deepening of the reform and opening up of the market economy, from the 1960s to 2000, state-owned industrial enterprises or collectively owned industrial enterprises built at that time were either auctioned, converted or closed since the beginning of 2000.
