He has seen all kinds of poor mountains and bad waters; he has dealt with all kinds of Buddhas, gods and ghosts. Although he suffered a lot in this process, the disasters finally made him achieve the great way. However, why did Sun Wukong never meet his brothers on the way to obtain the scriptures? The answer has been given long ago.
Speaking of Sun Wukong's brothers, those who have read "Journey to the West" must still remember that Sun Wukong was originally a stone monkey. In order to live forever, he went to Xiniu Hezhou Lingtai Fangcunshan to worship the ancestors. He stayed there for 20 years. Finally, the ancestors taught him the seventy-two changes and Somersault Cloud . However, when Sun Wukong had just learned his skills, he showed off his abilities in front of his fellow disciples, which made the ancestors furious!
In a fit of anger, the ancestor drove Wukong down the mountain and cut off his master-disciple relationship with him. At the same time, he repeatedly told Sun Wukong not to allow him to say that he was his master outside in the future, otherwise he would take his life. However, Sun Wukong stayed in Fangcunshan for 20 years at that time, but he did not offend his fellow brothers. Why did he never see each other again? Could it be that the ancestors interfered and deliberately refused to let them meet?
This is of course not! No matter how cruel the ancestor is, he will not do that, because Sun Wukong is still his apprentice after all? There is an important detail here, which has long implied why Sun Wukong never met his own brother later. This detail is the life-and-death struggle in the hands of King of Hell . After Sun Wukong came back from Fangcun Mountain in Lingtai, he played with his monkeys and grandchildren every day in Huaguoshan , and made friends like Bull Demon King .
But one day, Sun Wukong fell asleep drowsy after drinking some wine. After falling asleep, he even encountered a bull head and horse face. This made him suddenly alert. Are he going to die? Otherwise, how could the bullhead and horse face come to find me? So he hurriedly asked the bullhead and horse face to argue, saying that he had learned the way to live a long life, so why would he die? Did they make a mistake? However, Niu Tou Horse-Mist said they were not wrong.
So, they made trouble all the way to the King of Hell. Sun Wukong used all the means to force and tempt the King of Hell. In the end, the King of Hell moved out of the life-and-death flaw. Sun Wukong opened the life-and-death flaw and saw that it said, "On the No. 1,350... The stone monkey born in heaven should live for 342 years...", and Sun Wukong was completely speechless! In the end, he forced his name to be erased from the life and death penalty with judge .
From this we can see that even though Sun Wukong learned the way of longevity, it was only a little longer, but it did not make him immortal. In other words, Sun Wukong would inevitably be impermanent in the end. Therefore, Sun Wukong was eventually attracted by a cow head and a horse face. By the same token, although Sun Wukong's other brothers may also live long, they still were impermanent in the end, that is, his brothers would inevitably die.
. Judging from the life and death of the King of Hell, Sun Wukong's life span is only 342 years old. So, the life span of his fellow brothers is basically around this number. However, after Sun Wukong erased his name from the life and death penalty, he made a big fuss in the Heavenly Palace. Later, he was pressed by Tathagata Buddha at the foot of Wuzhi Mountain for 500 years, and then he followed Tang Monk to the West to obtain the scriptures. In other words, Sun Wukong had a lifespan of at least 1,000 years at that time.
At this time, who else could have such a long lifespan of Sun Wukong’s brothers? Therefore, on the road to the West, the reason why Sun Wukong had never met his brothers was not because his master made a mistake, but because his senior brothers had long died of old age. How could he meet him?
