During the full-scale war of resistance, Shanghai was the birthplace of the New Fourth Army, an important supply place for personnel and material resources, an underground transportation station, an intelligence collection place, a transshipment place for receiving international aid, and an important channel window for propaganda to the New Fourth Army. At the same time, the New Fourth Army and the Central China Anti-Japanese Base Area are also strong backing for the CCP’s Shanghai underground organization and the general public’s struggle to fight against Japan and national salvation. During the lecture on
, Major General Liu Sumin focused on "learning the General Secretary's reply to the 100-year-old New Fourth Army veterans", "learning the revolutionary spirit and lofty character of the 100-year-old New Fourth Army veterans", "remembering the original mission and inheriting the red gene", telling the heroic deeds of Shi Ping, Cheng Yaxi, Gu Hailou, Gong Zhi, Tsui Hark, Wang Xiang, Li Ming, Shi Li and many other 100-year-old New Fourth Army soldiers who devoted themselves to the revolution and fought bravely in their youth, as well as their love for the party who cares about the propaganda and education of the party history, and relive the light of faith and the fire of ideals of the old New Fourth Army soldiers.

Not only did they bravely fight the enemy and make achievements in the war years, work selflessly and make selfless contributions in the peaceful era, but also in the decades after their retirement, they always stick to the red position, actively serve as revolutionary history tour guides, fine tradition propagandists, and ideological education counselors, and teach by their own words and deeds, sow the "red seeds", inherit the red genes, and show valuable revolutionary spirit and noble character.
Loyalty to the Party and firm beliefs are the most valuable political character of the veteran soldiers of the New Fourth Army. Shi Ping, a 112-year-old veteran of the New Fourth Army, has been a member of the Party for 84 years and is currently the oldest member of the Communist Party and an veteran soldier of the New Fourth Army in the country.
He said: "My life has gone through the era of warlord melee, the era of Chiang Kai-shek's rule, the War of Resistance Against Japan and the War of Liberation, and the economic construction after liberation, especially the construction of reform and opening up for more than 40 years, so I dare say that without the Communist Party of China, there would be no New China. Our party is a great, glorious and correct party!"
For national independence and people's liberation, he sacrificed his head and shed his blood. He is the most important heroic character of the old soldiers of the New Fourth Army. The old soldier Tsui Hark, , Shanghai Baoshan , born in March 1921. In 1937, after the failure of the Battle of Shanghai, the Japanese army burned, killed and looted wildly, his house was blown up, and the whole family fled everywhere. In 1939, Tsui Hark and three young people from the same village joined the New Fourth Army. At that time, he heard that the New Fourth Army was very powerful, an iron army, an army of the people, and had strict discipline. Joining the New Fourth Army was to fight the Japanese and take revenge. Later, all three people who joined the army with him died. In 1940, Tsui Hark joined the Communist Party of China and participated in the Battle of Guocun, the Battle of Huangqiao, the Battle of Tianmushan, the Battle of stubbornness, the Battle of Suzhong, the Battle of Seven Wins, the Battle of Suzhou and Zhong, the Battle of Seven Wins, the Battle of Lianshui, the Battle of Shandong, the Battle of Shandong, the Battle of Shandong, the Battle of Shandong, the Battle of Shandong, the Battle of Shandong, the Battle of Henan, the Battle of Huaihai, and the Battle of the River.
Live until old age, learn until old age, and always maintain a strong desire for knowledge, reflecting a tenacious enterprising spirit. Cheng Yaxi, a 107-year-old veteran, joined the Communist Party of China in 1940 and has been a member of the Party for 81 years. 0 years old, he still insists on studying in college for veteran cadres. After retiring, he wrote more than 100 memoirs and learned experiences. At the age of 85, he suffered from bladder cancer, fought against the disease with tenacious perseverance, and always maintained the spirit of revolutionary optimism.
Retirement will not fade, and dedicate will do things. This is the common pursuit of the centenarian warrior.
