In 1942, Ge Zhenlin was sent to the Anti-Soviet Second Branch to study and began another kind of combat life. This place not only has the tempering of blood and fire, but also the nourishment of cultural knowledge and revolutionary ideas, which made him more mature in the melting pot of revolution.
After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, Ge Zhenlin served as company commander and deputy director of the regiment logistics department, and joined the troops in the battles of liberating Zhangjiakou, Taiyuan and other places. After the outbreak of the Korean War, Ge Zhenlin originally planned to join the war, but he was given a new task: to lead his troops to participate in the construction of the Jingjiang water conservancy project.
In the spring of 1952, Ge Zhenlin led more than 500 officers and soldiers to work hard in Jingjiang. He had been sharing the joys and sorrows with the soldiers on the construction site for a long time. He couldn't even drink a sip of water during the day, and slept in the thatched hut at night. After three months of hard work, the troops completed the construction task half a month ahead of schedule. One day in March 1993, police from the Dongshan Branch of Guangzhou Public Security Bureau arrested a group of drug users in Donghai Building, including Ge Yongxian. After the public security personnel learned about Ge Yongxian's identity, they immediately told Ge Zhenlin's eldest son Ge Changsheng, who was working in the logistics department of the Guangzhou Military Region. After Ge Changsheng released his younger brother, he sent him back to his hometown in Hengyang.
After Ge Zhenlin learned that Ge Yongxian was taking drugs, he pointed at his nose and cursed: "You are not a good guy. It turns out that you are doing business, but you didn't expect you to be taking drugs..."
Ge Yongxian immediately knelt on the ground and expressed his desire to change his past. He said: "Dad, it's all my fault for being confused, I will never again..."
On the eve of August 1st in 1994, the Central Military Commission invited Ge Zhenlin to wear the " Red Star Medal " to go to Beijing to celebrate Army Day with the central leader. After Ge Zhenlin's death, the people spontaneously held a memorial service in his hometown of Quyang County and Yi County, Hebei Province. On the day of the memorial service, the passenger flow of the Langya Mountain Scenic Area increased from dozens of people every day to tens of thousands.
