1895 - The birth of the anti-Japanese hero Ji Hongchang
Ji Hongchang (October 18, 1895-November 24, 1934), a native of Fugou County, Henan Province. In 1913, he joined Feng Yuxiang's army. Because of his bravery and good combat, he made many military achievements, and was promoted from a soldier to a commander. He served as the commander-in-chief of the 22nd Route Army and the commander of the 30th Division, and was ordered to "encircle and suppress" the revolutionary bases of Hubei, Henan and Anhui. On November 24, 1934, he was killed in the Beiping Army Prison with the order of Chiang Kai-shek.

1989-The United States launches the Galileo Jupiter exploration spacecraft
Galileo is an unmanned spacecraft from the U.S. Space Administration and is the first spacecraft to directly detect Jupiter. Specially used to study Jupiter and its moons. It was named after the Renaissance Italian astronomer Galileo and was transported on October 18, 1989 by the shuttle Atlantis. The mission name is STS-34, which approached Jupiter on December 7, 1995.
