On the 13th anniversary of Qian Xuesen's death
We deeply remember this founder of China's aerospace industry!
Some people say that he is worth five marine divisions alone. He once said: "I am a descendant of Tang . My passion is only to serve the country. My roots are in China." He is Qian Xuesen .
Qian Xuesen graduated from National Jiaotong University in 1934 and went to the United States to study in October of the same year. In 1949, he was preparing to return to China when the founding of New China was 6. He did not complete the difficult road to return to China until 1955; he officially joined the party in 1958.
1923, Qian Xuesen was admitted to Beijing Normal University Affiliated Middle School . Qian Xuesen recalled: "We went to school in the affiliated high school and felt that one problem was on our hearts, that is, the survival of the nation-state. We study hard to revitalize China."
When Qian Xuesen learned about the founding of New China and knew that China urgently needed scientific and technological talents to build the motherland, he decided to give up his generous life in the United States and return to China.
After learning about this, the US government stopped Qian Xuesen and his family who were preparing to return home at the port and imprisoned him on an island. Qian Xuesen lost dozens of kilograms in one month and suffered huge physical and mental damage. Even so, Qian Xuesen's attempt to return to China did not stop. Finally, with the instructions and help of Premier Zhou Enlai, he completed his difficult journey to return to China in 1955.
In his later years, after Qian Xuesen and his wife Jiang Ying
returned to China, Qian Xuesen immediately invested in the research and development of New China rockets, missiles, and spacecraft. He led scientific researchers to overcome many difficulties under difficult conditions and successfully developed and launched my country's first short-range missile, , in four years, and successfully developed medium- and short-range missiles in four years. After that, in 1966, it took another two years to give my country a missile nuclear weapon. In just 10 years, my country's missile nuclear weapons have developed rapidly and have become one of the world's powerful countries.
He is rigorous and meticulous in his work, approachable, and strictly demands himself in life. His leather briefcase was brought back from the United States and has been used for 40 years, and has been repaired several times during this period. The clothes he usually wears are also very simple, a green military coat he has wore in the northwest base for 20 years.
His office is only more than twenty square meters, and there is no decent office utensil. A whole lined up of painted bookshelf has not been replaced for decades. It is filled with various books and materials. The top of the bookcase is also used, and stacks of newspaper clippings and materials are neatly placed. A group of gray cloth sofas had a long broken spring and could not get up after sitting down. It was not as good as the old furniture sold in the second-hand market. But for many years, Qian Xuesen worked diligently in this old or even dilapidated office and made great contributions.
Mr. Qian’s “three nos” is not going abroad. After Qian Xuesen returned to China, he only went abroad three times. The first two were visiting the Soviet Union in the 1950s, and the third was in the 1980s when he led a delegation from the Chinese Association for Science and Technology to visit the UK and Germany. These were all work visits and could not be rejected. Apart from that, he has never been abroad, especially in the United States.
Speaking of Mr. Qian who has never been to the United States since he returned to China, I would like to explain it here. After the reform and opening up of , exchanges between China and the United States increased. As a famous scientist, Qian Xuesen, there were many units or individuals invited him abroad. Among them, the United States invited the most, but he refused them all.
No matter how high the honor Qian Xuesen is, he doesn't care about it.
Qian Xuesen said: "If the Chinese people say that I, Qian Xuesen, have done something for the country and the nation, it is the highest reward. I don't care about those foreign honorary titles!"
"Four Nos" is that Qian Xuesen cannot insist on any books such as "Celebrity Directory", "Celebrity Ceremony", etc.
Now there are many big ceremonies like "Who's Who" that are held, and most people want to go to the Who's Who, just pay some money. If Qian Xuesen wants to be on the celebrity list, he will not ask him for money. But he knew the "famous" here, so he explained to the secretary a principle: never go to any who's list. He said: "The way I resist this unhealthy trend is that I don't want to go, and I don't want to go."
The big man in the snail house
On October 31, 2009, Qian Xuesen closed his eyes peacefully. On that day, heavy snow fell from the sky in Beijing. This is the first heavy goose feather snow in late autumn. It is the earliest and largest snowfall in Beijing that has been rare in many years. The branches of the green pines and cypresses have been crushed by the snow.
Many people say that this snow is God commemorating Qian Xuesen. Starting the next day, people who received this sad news braved heavy snow from all directions to the aerospace compound near the Beijing Aerospace Bridge. In such a crowded yard with many high-rise buildings and apartments, people found Qian Xuesen's home in front of an old building where he had lived for 50 years. This is the second of five or six inconspicuous red brick buildings, Qian Xuesen's home is in the easternmost unit.
A mourning hall was set up on the first floor. Because the place was small, there were too many people coming to mourn, so they could only stand outside the building and wait in line in the heavy snow to worship. Those who came include both national leaders and ordinary people. Countless wreaths are placed under the simple shed temporarily built outside the building.
There are many people who don’t know each other to come by train or plane. They are all people who worship Mr. Qian and are the first time they come to see Mr. Qian. People looked at the old ordinary apartment with four or five units: Could it be that the third vice chairman of the CPPCC has always lived in such a scattered house? This house is too incompatible with Qian Xuesen's position.
However, this is the fact that people have seen it with their own eyes. This great scientist who is up to the vice chairman of the CPPCC, a scientific pioneer who has made outstanding contributions to the country and the people, spent most of his life in this apartment building.
Qian Xuesen never forgets his promise to "revitalize China" throughout his life. He spent his whole life fulfilling the solemn commitment of a Communist Party member to the motherland and the people, becoming a pioneer and outstanding representative of China's aerospace science and technology industry, and is known as the "father of China's aerospace" and the "king of rocket ".
