Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, our city has insisted on improving environmental quality as the core, vigorously promoted urban landscaping construction, and worked hard to improve green space functions and ecological environment restoration. The city has shown a good situation of improving green quality, effectively ensuring the environment, and improving the life index .
The data from the Statistical Bulletin of National Economic and Social Development in Our City shows that in 2011, the green space area in our city was 33,900 mu, and the per capita park green space area was 9.04 square meters; in 2021, the green space area in our city was 129,000 mu, and the per capita park green space area was 13.78 square meters. Over the past 10 years, the green space area in our city has increased by 95,100 mu, with an average annual increase of more than 8,600 mu.
Since 2011, all departments of the Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, petroleum and petrochemical enterprises stationed in the city, and the general public have worked together to overcome difficulties and made every effort to promote urban greening. A total of 2,635 units and 414,400 people have participated in afforestation and greening, and a total of 423 greening projects have been implemented, and 95,100 mu of greening construction have been completed, exceeding the total greening area from 1958 to 2011.
10 years, the Karamay urban shelterbelt system has been continuously improved, with a focus on implementing a number of urban shelterbelts and green corridors and greenway projects; the urban landscape effect has been significantly improved, creating a green shared scene; the city’s peripheral ecological environment has been significantly improved, and 22,000 mu of green space have been added through the restoration and construction of desert vegetation. Up to now, the city's road greening penetration rate has reached more than 98%, and the green space compliance rate in newly built and renovated residential areas is more than 98%. Our city has gradually formed an urban inner garden landscape with park green spaces and residential green spaces as the core, a city surrounding shelterbelt system focusing on greening of national highways and provincial highways shelterbelts, and an urban peripheral ecological security barrier focusing on the restoration and reconstruction of desert vegetation green space layout.
