Introduction: The destruction of France has no beginning or end. The king made a big wish two years ago to kill 10,000 monks, and has already killed 9,996. He is just waiting for Tang Monk and his disciples to come. Why doesn't Tathagata stop him?
Guanyin Bodhisattva Messaging
Before Tang Monk and his disciples were about to destroy France, they received a warning from Guanyin Bodhisattva. Guanyin Bodhisattva took the good-wealth boy Hong Haier, disguised as an old woman and a child, to stop Tang Monk.
An old woman walked out of Liu Yin, holding a child in her right hand, and shouted to Tang Monk: "Monk, don't leave. Turn your horse back east as soon as possible. Going west is a dead end."
Guanyin Bodhisattva did not really want Tang Monk to go back the way he came. At this time, Tang Monk and his disciples were almost at the foot of lingshan. So many monsters and monsters in front could not make Tang Monk and others give up. How could they be frightened by Guanyin Bodhisattva?
Guanyin Bodhisattva has been helping the pilgrims along the way, and has never said anything to make them give up. Now it is just to get the head start, to retreat in order to advance, and to test Tang Monk.
Tang Monk replied: "The sea is so vast that fish can jump, and the sky allows birds to fly. Why is it that there is no way to go west?"
This sentence means: The sea is vast, and fish can jump for joy; the sky is high, and birds can fly. It is a metaphor that the road of life is infinitely broad and you can access and live anywhere. This shows Tang Monk’s determination to learn scriptures.
Guanyin Bodhisattva saw that Tang Monk was so determined, so he told him the truth.
The old mother pointed to the west with her hand and said: "Go there, five or six miles away, to destroy France. The king had enmity in his previous life, and committed crimes for no reason in this life. Two years ago, he made a great wish to kill a Luotian. Ten thousand monks have killed nine thousand nine hundred and ninety-six unknown monks one after another in the past two years. All you have to do is wait for four famous monks to make up ten thousand to achieve perfection. If you go to the city, you will all die to King Bodhisattva!"
This made Elder Tang tremble with fear. Is there such a vicious country in the world? He specializes in killing monks and has to kill 10,000 before he stops. Moreover, it is almost reaching the Western Heaven. Doesn’t the Buddha even care?
Of course, it’s not that the Buddha didn’t want to take care of it, but that the time had not come yet and he couldn’t take care of it. That’s why he asked Guanyin Bodhisattva to wait for Monk Tang to come and use their hands to change and destroy France. So when Tang Monk asked if he could take a detour, Guanyin Bodhisattva warned him again.
The old mother smiled and said: "I can't turn around, I can't turn around, unless it can fly, it will pass."
The subtext of Guanyin Bodhisattva is: there can be no detours, this mission is to bring back this country, and you have to use your brain.
Tang Monk said before that if you encounter mountains, you should bulldoze them. It would be disrespectful to take a detour. Now that I heard the horror of destroying France, I actually thought of taking a detour.
Sun Wukong Seeing this, he immediately used his fiery eyes to see the true form of Guanyin Bodhisattva and worshiped him. Tang Monk immediately panicked and bowed down as well. He also blamed Sun Wukong for not telling him earlier, because he knew that he was embarrassed and wanted to escape from the disaster.
In fact, this is no wonder Tang Seng. Such a horrific thing as killing 10,000 monks happened at the foot of Lingshan Mountain. Even Tathagata Buddha and Guanyin Bodhisattva did not dare to deal with it. They had to borrow the hands of scripture collectors. The water here is really a bit deep. It is no wonder that Tang Seng, who has always been pious, has the idea of retreating.
Guanyin Bodhisattva is also very resolute. He must correct his behavior of destroying France and cannot harm mortals, otherwise it will not be considered a pass.
Then why did the King of Destruction of France kill 10,000 monks? If you look back, Changsu will tell you what the Buddhist family did to him!
The current situation of destroying France
If we want to know why the king of France killed the monk, we must analyze the situation before he killed the monk and after he killed the monk.
After the Guanyin Bodhisattva gave some warnings and mobilizations, Sun Wukong placed Tang Monk in the suburbs of France, and he turned into a moth and entered France, which is quite like a moth flying into the fire.
Since Guanyin Bodhisattva said before that the Dharma-destroying king would kill monks on sight without asking them their names and origins, Sun Wukong expected that such a country that was inhumane and killed innocent people indiscriminately would be filled with chaos and ruin.
What he saw with his own eyes was completely different from what Sun Wukong imagined. What he saw was a prosperous scene. This made Sun Wukong even more confused.
stood in the clouds and looked down, only to see the city full of joy and auspicious light rippling. The traveler said: "It's a good place to go, why destroy the Dharma?"
But is this really the case? Of course not! Let’s take a look at what happened when Sun Wukong sneaked into the inn to inquire about the situation?
I saw the waiter walking forward and said: "Officials, please be careful. Gentlemen and villains here are different. Everyone should be careful with their clothes and luggage."
The waiter in the store said that there are gentlemen and villains here, which means that the tourists in the store are all good and bad. This is a cliché used to remind guests to pay attention, and it also shows that the destruction of France is at least not as stable as it seems on the surface!
Sun Wukong stole the guests' clothes at the inn, took them back and put them on Tang Monk and others to hide his identity as a monk. Another question arises here. Why doesn't Sun Wukong use a blind trick to get through, or make the whole city sleep and sneak over?
Chang Su believes that Sun Wukong is still not interested in smuggling, nor does he want to deceive ordinary people. It is also possible that he still wants to get the customs clearance document to destroy France, otherwise he would not turn into a mouse and steal clothes by announcing his home to scare the store.
The traveler heard the words and resorted to tricks. He blocked the door and shouted loudly: "Wang Xiaoer, don't listen to your mother-in-law's nonsense. I am not a night mouse who became a spirit. A wise man does not do secret things. I am the Monkey King of Qitian who came to earth to protect Monk Tang from going to the west to obtain scriptures. You are an unprincipled king, so you came here to borrow this dress to dress up. My master. As soon as he passed the city, he returned it."
Sun Wukong brought Tang Seng, Bajie and Sha Seng to the inn, claiming to be a horse dealer. There were many brothers and horses outside the city. Sun Wukong even gave a lot of money to the inn.
They made a lot of jokes in vain in order not to attract attention. In the end, they crowded into a cabinet to sleep, and tied the white dragon horse next to the cabinet. However, Sun Wukong did not expect that the white dragon horse attracted the attention of a group of robbers.
Little did he know that he, the waiter, water carrier, and firelighter in the shop, had always been with the bandits. When he heard the traveler said that he had a lot of silver, he sneaked out with a few of them, and joined more than twenty thieves, who came to rob the horse dealer with open fires and sticks.
This once again reflects that the destruction of France is not peaceful! The store owner colluded with the robbers to harm the passing merchants, but this group of robbers came very strangely! Is it related to the king’s destruction of law?
The origin of the robbers
This group of robbers appeared very suddenly, but if we pay attention to the details of the previous difficulty, we will find that the robbers have appeared long ago!
After this group of robbers robbed the cabinet where Bai Longma, Sun Wukong and others were hiding, they were seen by soldiers patrolling the street. The robbers could only put down their treasures and flee.
The thief got hold of him. Instead of going west, he carried him to the east of the city and killed him.
The bandits were preparing to flee to the east, and the east was the direction Tang Seng and the others came from. They had just experienced a disaster there and met a golden-nosed white-haired rat spirit. At the same time, they also met a strange temple on the road: Zhenhai Chanlin Temple .
How strange is this temple? The original text reads:
The palaces are withered and collapsed, and the corridors are lonely and decadent. There are more than a dozen piles of broken bricks and tiles, all of which are crooked beams and broken columns. Green grass grows in front and behind, and the dust is buried in the rotten kitchen. The bell tower collapsed, the drum had no skin, and the glass incense lamp was broken. The Buddha's golden body is colorless, and the Arhat is lying on something. Guanyin was soaked and turned into mud, and the willow bottle fell to the ground. No monks come in during the day, and at night all the foxes stay, and only the wind roars like thunder, which is where tigers and leopards hide. The walls all around have collapsed, and there are no doors to close the house.
This temple could not even preserve the golden body of Buddha and the appearance of Bodhisattva. It was in such dilapidated condition that Elder Tang was secretly saddened and burst into tears. However, when they walked further inside, they found that there was a cave inside.
The Taoist led Tang Monk to the third floor door and looked inside. It was very different from the outside, but what he saw was: the green bricks made up the colorful cloud wall, and the green tiles made up the glazed hall. Gold is used to decorate the holy elephant, and white jade is used to build the steps. The blue light dances on the main hall , and Sir Vairocana is energetic.
The scene before and after the temple was so different that Tang Monk was so frightened that he did not dare to go in. When Tang Monk asked the reason, the man said
Master, there are many evil and strong bandits in this mountain. The sky was clear and they were robbing people along the mountain. Tianyin came to the temple to hide. He pushed down the Buddha statue and sat on it, and moved the wood plants to light the fire. The monks in this temple were weak and did not dare to talk to him, so they gave up the shabby houses in front of them to the strong men, and hired some new donors to build that temple.
The Taoist said that there were too many robbers here. The front was used to hide people's eyes and was left for the robbers to live in. The back was the real temple, but he said that he got the money from a new benefactor.
This temple is not a serious temple. First of all, the people here are not real monks. They are all lamas who have become monks on the way. When Monk Tang was polite to them, the lama in charge said:
You are not the son of a man! Not a son of man! We don’t want to become monks with good intentions. It’s all because our parents were born and killed, and the family couldn’t support them, so we decided to become monks.
These lamas came to be monks because their families were poor. Do they become poor after becoming a monk? Not to mention, judging from the way this lama monk is dressed, his life has been really smooth after becoming a monk.
Suddenly I saw a monk coming. Look at what he looks like: wearing a velvet brocade hat on his head, and a pair of copper hoops on his ears. Wearing a woolen suit, his white eyes are as bright as silver. He was shaking the bolang drum in his hand and chanting sutras, but it didn't sound true.
This lama wears gold and silver, and a brocade hat and mink fur. He is completely different from the monks of the Tang Dynasty. Most of the monks in the Tang Dynasty were ascetics. When Guanyin Bodhisattva went to Chang'an to find Buddhist scriptures, he also transformed into a leprosy monk: scabies is described as scabies, wearing ragged clothes, barefoot and bald. This is a real monk, completely different from this lama.
The reason why Lama Monk is so glamorous is due to two reasons.
First, it’s because of the money given by the donors who made donations.
The second reason is because of the money given by the bandits in order to settle down and live.
There are a total of seventy or eighty lamas of various sizes in Zhenhai Chanlin Temple. They can afford so many lamas who are not engaged in production, and they can also build unique and magnificent temples. Most people really don’t have the financial resources, nor the demand. And near Zhenhai Chanlin Temple, there are only destroying France who have the financial resources and needs!
As mentioned above, the bandits in France are most likely the bandits who live in Zhenhai Chanlin Temple. France is suffering from the threat of bandits and is miserable.
From ancient times to the present, when most people encounter problems that cannot be solved, the first thing they do is burn incense and pray to gods and Buddhas. The King of Destruction is no exception. There happens to be a temple nearby. Due to spiritual needs, it is not impossible for them to use the entire country to support this Zen Forest Temple.
However, it was different from what they imagined. They spent money to petition and got no response at all. The reason is that this is a group of fake monks who act in the name of Buddha, and this group of robbers is also inextricably related to them.
The lama of Zhenhai Chanlin Temple could peacefully coexist with the bandits for such a long time. You said there was nothing fishy among them, but I didn’t believe it! Is there a possibility that this group of monks are playing a trick to support the bandits?
Perhaps this group of robbers had nothing to do with the lamas at first, and they sincerely petitioned to help the king of France be destroyed, but don’t underestimate human nature, especially in the face of money, power and beauty, human nature is greedy.
Don't forget, these lamas are indeed not good birds. They were all born into poor families and do not know how to restrain themselves. Otherwise, there would be a few young lamas who could not resist the temptation of rat spirits , and would be taken away, beaten with teeth, and become the rations of rat spirits.
The truth of the matter may be as follows:
A group of bandits have been raging in France. The king and the people could not bear the disturbance, so they went to the nearby Zhenhai Zenlin Temple to seek help. The lamas of the Zenlin Temple prayed for France seriously at first. The King of France gave them a lot of gold and silver, and the situation of these poor lamas was changed.
When the lamas discovered that the bandits who invaded and destroyed France were the same group of bandits at their doorstep, they couldn't help but have other thoughts. If the bandits were really driven away, would the people who destroyed France still provide so much wealth?
So the lamas colluded with the bandits, and they worked together. The bandits would still go to destroy France, but they would not be as rampant as before. Every time they found the lama to destroy France, they would stop for a while. In this way, the two parties teamed up to destroy France.
Until two years ago, the King of Destruction discovered the truth and made a great wish to kill all the monks, so the lamas had no choice but to hide.
This is where Tang Monk asked King Mifa why he wanted to kill the monk.
The king said: "The teacher is an eminent monk from the Heavenly Kingdom, and I am unable to meet you. I have always wished to kill monks, but once because the monks slandered me, I made a heavenly wish to kill ten thousand monks to achieve perfection."
King Miefa said it was "because the monk slandered me". "Slander" means slander, slander, and accusing others of their faults. But when it comes from the king's mouth, it can be understood as meaning deception, which is also consistent with Chang Su's speculation in the previous article.
But this conflicted with what Guanyin Bodhisattva said. The reason Guanyin Bodhisattva told Tang Monk was: "The king had enmity in his previous life and committed crimes for no reason in this life."
Is this disaster caused by the previous life or the result of this life? Or does the retribution come quickly in this life? Who was the king in his previous life?
The King’s Past Life
There is a discrepancy between the words of Guanyin Bodhisattva and the king’s explanation, but there is no conflict, because the king himself does not know who he was in his previous life, what he did, and what enmity he had with the Buddha.
Generally speaking, the mainstream argument is that Guanyin Bodhisattva told a lie in order to forcefully explain the behavior of the Dharma Destroyer King and was unwilling to pay for the wrong things the Buddha did. Moreover, the previous life of the Dharma Destroyer King was not written in the book.
In fact, there is no need for Guanyin Bodhisattva to lie, because those group of lamas have already suffered retribution and are hiding in the darkness all day long, and the king has almost killed all the monks.
Buddhism pays attention to cause and effect, so what Guanyin Bodhisattva says is very likely to be true.
After reading the original work, Changsu also found the person who was most likely to be the previous life of the Dharma-destroying King, and also knew why he had enmity with the Buddha.
In the 98th chapter of the original work of "Journey to the West", Ananda Kasyapa asked Tang Monk for personnel, but Tang Monk didn't give it, so Ananda Kasyapa took out the "Wordless Sutra" and brought it back to the East. Later, the Buddhist monk sent Baixiong to blow open the Sutra. Only then did Tang Monk and the others discover that it was a sutra without words and went to Tathagata Buddha to discuss it. Dharma, the Tathagata told a story from the past:
When the holy monks came down the mountain, they once recited this sutra to Elder Zhao in Savatthi State to ensure the safety of the living and the transcendence of the dead. He only asked him to get back three measures of rice and three liters of gold. I also said that they sold it too cheaply and that future generations would have no money to use it.
If you want to know the cause of the past life, what is the recipient in this life. To be able to be reincarnated as the king of France, he must have been an extraordinary person in his previous life. Elder Zhao of Savatthi State could make all the monks and saints recite the "Wordless Sutra", and his blessings were also very profound.
Elder Zhao received great favor from Buddhism. The living will be safe all their lives, and the dead will be able to achieve transcendence. Elder Zhao should have given him more money for sesame oil, but he only gave him "three buckets and three liters of gold rice grains."
Tang Monk and his disciples went through ninety-nine and eighty-one difficulties to see the "Wordless Sutra", and they still couldn't recognize the scriptures. Elder Zhao of Savatthi State listened to the whole text and received blessings, but only gave him a little money. It was indeed the Buddha who sold it at a low price.
In this life, Elder Zhao reincarnated and became the King of Dharma Destruction. This fate must be solved with him. The Buddha also said, "Teaching his children and grandchildren has no money to use." The money to destroy France was defrauded by the Lama Monk. Even the hotels in the country are divided into three, six and nine grades, which is in line with what the Buddha said.
The Dharma King wants to kill 10,000 monks. Anyway, they are all fake monks. The Buddha does not feel sorry for them. It just eliminates the cancer in Buddhism. When there were only four places left, Tang Seng and others were arranged to come and save France.
The whole country of France was shaved bald by Sun Wukong. The king knew that Sun Wukong was a magical god, and Monk Tang was a visitor from the Celestial Dynasty. He knew that the grudges with Buddhism should be wiped out, so he changed his name to " Chin France ".
It’s not that the King of Dharma Destruction is bullying the weak and afraid of the strong, but that it has reached the final stage and it’s time for reconciliation. He has brought the entire country back to the side of the Buddha. The two sides have a basis for cooperation again. This is the best ending for the King of Dharma Destruction. It is understandable that Tathagata does not take action, not to mention that the king has received the promise of Sun Wukong.
"You only changed the Guan Wen and sent us out of the city to protect your imperial status forever and your longevity."
" destroys France " The target historical event
Why did the author Wu Chengen write about the difficulty of "destroying France"? Moreover, the writing is very abrupt, a bit truncated, and many plots still require the reader's own imagination.
The most difficult target to “destroy France” is actually the several massive “Buddhist extermination movements” in history.
Buddhism has always given people the impression of being aloof from the world. The teachings of Buddhism also encourage people to do good. Such a warm-hearted sect encountered four disasters in Chinese history. These four disasters were collectively referred to by later generations as "Three Martial Arts and One Sect Destroyed the Buddha."
Due to the prosperity of Buddhism, the number of monks and nuns continued to increase, the temple economy continued to develop, and these monks had to rely on others to support them, which greatly weakened the local economic strength.
Moreover, many criminals choose to become monks in order to escape the law, which makes temples become places where filth and evil gather together. Just like those monks and robbers in Zhenhai Zenlin Temple, they openly borrowed the name of "Buddha".
The "Buddhist Extermination Movement" also involves the status of Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism. Northern Zhou Emperor Yuwen Yong once held a debate on the status of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism.
A group of Taoist priests, , scholars, and monks get together. We all know the result without even thinking about it. Naturally, they are so quarrelsome that no one can convince anyone.
Yu Wenyong saw that the discussion could not come up with a charter, so he simply made a one-size-fits-all decision. He also did not intend to defend Taoism, and directly ordered "the two religions of Buddhism and Taoism to be eradicated, all scriptures and images to be destroyed, the monks (monks and nuns) and Taoists to be dismissed, and ordered to return to the people."
In June of the same year, Yu Wenyong ordered the establishment of the channel temple . This channel temple houses celebrities from the three schools of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism. Its mission is to explore the true meaning of the three religions and bridge the differences between the three religions.
Wu Chengen mentioned "Three Religions Unify into One" when he first wrote "Journey to the West". Based on this concept, he created the mysterious character "Bodhi Patriarch", making him the guide of Sun Wukong. The difficulty of "Destroying France" further polished the concept of "Three Religions in One".
