- Kunming Municipal Museum · Dizang Temple Sutra Building
Walking into Kunming Municipal Museum , in the spacious and bright hall, facing the Dizang Temple Sutra Building stands . The Sutra Building of Dizang Temple is named after it was built in Dizang Temple. In 1982, it was announced by the State Council as a national key cultural relics protection unit. The sutra building is carved from five sections of red sandstone and is 6.5 meters high. The building is in the shape of a pagoda with seven floors and eight sides, with boundary eaves between the levels.
The drum-shaped building under the ancient building is the base, and eight lifelike dragons are carved on the base. Counting upward from the base, the ancient building has seven floors and a total of 300 statues. Among all Buddhist sutra buildings in the country, the Sutra Building of Dizang Temple ranks among the best in terms of the number of statues and texts, and its statues are unparalleled in its exquisiteness. Therefore, Chinese and foreign experts praised its "strong knife marks and extremely exquisite preparation", "the best art in central Yunnan" and "a unique masterpiece in China".
Today, the Sutra Building of Dizang Temple is regarded as the treasure of the Kunming Municipal Museum. It stands in the broad and bright hall in front of the museum. People who come to visit can clearly see the exquisite patterns and carvings on the ancient building.
