Mahamati Kongzang Bodhisattva: In the "Kongkongzang Bodhisattva Divine Mantra Sutra", we can see Sakyamuni Buddha's praise for him: "This is a Bodhisattva whose samadhi is like the sea, who lives in the Bodhisattva precepts like Mount Sumeru, and who has a heart to endure humilia

Recently, the author briefly read some Buddhist scriptures and found that there is an allusion hidden behind the name of each Bodhisattva. And these allusions are closely related to Sakyamuni . Today, the author will introduce to you the ten major Bodhisattvas in Buddhism and the stories behind their titles.

The Great Wisdom Manjushri Bodhisattva:

Manjushri Bodhisattva is a symbol of wisdom. He can discern the truth of the world and use it to educate confused people. Because he guides all living things in the dark, Buddhists praise him as "the mother of the enlightenment of all Buddhas in the three generations."

There is "Bow Release Sutra" as evidence: "For example, children in the world have parents, Manjushri, they are also parents in Buddhism."

It is said that Manjushri Bodhisattva was in the past (not the past in the traditional sense, but corresponding to the present world and the future) In past lives), he taught seven Buddhas successively. Even Sakyamuni Buddha was enlightened by Manjushri Bodhisattva. From this, we can see that Manjushri Bodhisattva is actually the greatest wise man in the three realms.

Therefore, Manjushri Bodhisattva was given the title of "Great Wisdom", and because he had taught the Buddha, he was revered as the "Prince of Manjushri Dharma".

Mahamati Void Store Bodhisattva:

In the "Void Store Bodhisattva Divine Mantra Sutra", we can see Sakyamuni Buddha's praise for him, "He is a Bodhisattva with all samadhi like the sea, and the Bodhisattva's precepts are like Mount Sumeru. , the heart of patience is like a diamond, the energy and courage are like the wind, the wisdom is like the void, the wisdom is like the sand of eternity, among the bodhisattvas it is like the great banner of victory. On the blessed field, the first assistant minister of the Buddhas of the three generations, able to protect the city of Dharma, has the solemn secret treasure of eighteen different Buddhas, satisfies the wisdom of the accomplished Buddha, and is worthy of the support of all humans and gods. Except Tathagata , there is no winner. .”

In Buddhism, wisdom and wisdom are two different concepts.

The so-called "wisdom" originally means the radiance of Buddha nature that can illuminate the darkness in the world, and is also synonymous with all right thinking. On the basis of "precepts" and "concentration", the practitioner's light of wisdom is as transparent as candlelight, which is "wisdom".

The Great Compassionate Maitreya Bodhisattva:

The entry of Maitreya Bodhisattva in the Buddhist scriptures is recorded as follows: "Born in a Brahmin family in Nantianzhu. He was introduced to the Buddha's throne of Sakyamuni Tathagata and became a Bodhisattva who repaired his faults throughout his life. The previous Buddha passed away and was born in Tushita Inner Courtyard of Heaven. He was four thousand years old and was reborn in the human world. He attained enlightenment under the Longhua tree in Hualin Garden. Maitreya who had just passed away was worthy of the Buddha and cultivated the Samadhi of Loving Kindness, so he was called Ci Shi."

So, What are the allusions between Maitreya Bodhisattva and Buddha?

There is a proverb in Buddhism that says that the life span of all living beings in Tushita is about four thousand years, which is equivalent to 570 million human years. When the "afterlife" comes, Maitreya Bodhisattva will succeed Sakyamuni (the future Buddha) and come to Nanzhanbuzhou , achieve positive results through human practice, and transform into a Buddha after enlightenment. After Maitreya Bodhisattva becomes a Buddha, he will hold three Dharma assemblies under the Longhua Bodhi tree. In these three Dharma assemblies, the future Buddha will successively save 9.6 billion, 9.4 billion, and 9.2 billion sentient beings. They are beyond reincarnation.

Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva of Great Compassion:

There are many folk legends about Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, so the author will not go into details and will only talk about some little-known Buddhist knowledge.

In Buddhism, living beings are divided into fifty-two levels according to their level of practice. Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva belongs to the "Bodhisattva of Equal Enlightenment" and is in the second level. From a class perspective, Guanshiyin Bodhisattva is quite close to becoming a Buddha. According to records in Buddhist scriptures, Guanshiyin Bodhisattva has actually achieved Buddhahood, which means that he has the qualifications to become a Buddha.

It is not difficult to find from the text of " Great Compassion Dharani Sutra " that Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva has been honored as one of the "Three Saints of the West" and his status is equal to that of Buddha. However, in order to help the Buddha to transform the common people, Guanshiyin Bodhisattva chose to retain the body of a Bodhisattva and use it to appear and preach. From an ordinary person's perspective, this kind of ideological awareness is actually very respectable.

Dayong Vajrapani Bodhisattva:

We can often see the statue of Bodhisattva holding Vajrapani in temples. This statue is Vajrapani .In Buddhism, the vajra is a powerful magical weapon, symbolizing invincible and invincible power. This kind of power can not only subdue demons, but can also penetrate deep into people's hearts and crush the smallest worries in their hearts.

Among all the vajras, the one in the hand of Vajrapani Bodhisattva has the strongest magic power. It is said that its weight exceeds Mount Sumeru. Even if Three Thousand Worlds can shake Mount Sumeru, it cannot shake the vajra in the hand of Vajrapani Bodhisattva. A long, long time ago, Vajrapani Bodhisattva used this magical weapon to smash Iron Wall Mountain in one fell swoop and blast the stone mountain into powder.

It is said that when the Buddha came to Vulture Mountain , King Ajatasava expressed curiosity about the power of Vajra. The generous Vajrapani Bodhisattva put the Vajra in place and allowed King Ajatasava to try it on his own. King Ajatasaratu's magical power was so powerful that he could easily lift a heavily armored elephant, but this vajra made him unable to move at all. This allusion alone shows the power of Vajrapani Bodhisattva.

In addition, Vajrapani usually appears as the protector of Sakyamuni Buddha.

Great concentration Immovable Buddha :

Immovable Buddha, neither moving King Ming . In the eyes of the world, Bodhisattva Fudo often shows an angry look, but in fact this is another manifestation of his compassion, just like parents punishing their disobedient children with angry expressions. The original intention of Bodhisattva Fudo is "compassion", not punishment.

The instrument in the right hand of Fudo Bodhisattva is a sword, which is a sword that symbolizes wisdom. With just one swing, this sword can cut off all the roots of a person's troubles. The bundle of silk ropes held by the Bodhisattva Fudo in his left hand is a magic weapon for binding demons. However, the silk rope is not used to bind heretic demons, but is a sharp weapon against the "ego demon". Therefore, the secret intention of Fudo Bodhisattva is to control the inner demons with great wisdom.

In Buddhist thought, "demons" are not "demons" as ordinary people see them, but "grinding", which means being obsessed with oneself. In the process of spiritual practice, many people will be trapped by themselves and attached to their inner demons. As long as these can be abandoned, all external obstacles and sufferings will be purified. Therefore, the state of "great concentration" and "immobility" is aimed at subduing the heart.

Great Wish Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva :

With the popularity of the Internet, people know more and more about Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva . The so-called great vow refers to the vow that "I will never become a Buddha until hell is empty." Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva is the same as Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva. His practice has surpassed the stage of Bodhisattva and is only one step away from becoming a Buddha. However, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva is willing to give up the opportunity to become a Buddha and devote himself wholeheartedly to transforming all sentient beings in the hell realm.

According to Buddhism, before the advent of the "future world" and during the period when Sakyamuni is dead, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva will teach the six paths as the "acting Buddha" until the future Buddha Maitreya Buddha is born.

Samantabhadra Bodhisattva:

Samantabhadra Bodhisattva is a symbol of the Buddhist spirit of protecting the Dharma. At the Dharma assembly, Samantabhadra Bodhisattva once swore: In the five hundred years after the death of Sakyamuni Buddha, someone should protect the scriptures, and I am willing to take on this important task. This is: "If a person accepts and upholds it, reads, recites and memorizes it, understands its meaning, and practices it as it is said, this is the practice of Samantabhadra , and it is for Tathagata to rub his head and give prophecies. If it is written down, the person's life will end, and he will be reborn in trouble and benefit the heaven." If a person accepts, upholds, reads and recites it and understands its meaning, at the end of his life, he will ascend to the place of Maitreya Bodhisattva in Tusita Heaven."

The so-called "action" in Buddhism refers to the power gained from the six perfections and ten thousand actions. The "cultivation" of all sentient beings is this power. Samantabhadra Bodhisattva has gained immeasurable merit by virtue of his vow to protect the Dharma. This is a "great deed".

Great Power Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva :

"Avalokitesvara Sutra" says: "Mahasmaprapta Bodhisattva illuminates all living beings in the world with his unique light of wisdom, so that all living beings can escape the disaster of bloody swords and weapons and gain supreme power."

The power of Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva can enable believers to receive the blessing of the light of wisdom, allowing them to have smooth practice in the process of practice, and to turn misfortune into good fortune in life. This kind of protection is different from "blessing" in the usual sense. It is the power given by Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva to believers to stimulate their own wisdom, so that believers can use their own wisdom to turn evil into evil, bring good luck and good luck, and practice to a certain level.

As for the relationship between Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva and Sakyamuni Buddha, it is said that a long time ago, there was a Wheel-turning King and his descendants who converted to Buddhism under the persuasion of ministers and joined the sect of Treasure Tathagata . This Wheel-turning King is Amitabha, and Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva is the Wheel-turning King's second son. The minister who extradited the Wheel-turning King and his son is Sakyamuni Buddha.

Great Love Bodhisattva of Endless Intent :

"The Sutra of Dafang et al." records: "The cause and effect of all dharmas is inexhaustible. All dharmas are inexhaustible, meaning that the Bodhicitta is inexhaustible and even the conveniences are endless."

A long time ago, when this great Bodhisattva was observing all things in the world, he saw with his eyes of wisdom that there were countless sentient beings living in the three thousand worlds. Everywhere Bodhisattva Wuyi goes, he will discover a great world and all the living beings in it. However, these sentient beings are all suffering from troubles and sinking into reincarnation, and will never be able to achieve transformation and liberation.

Infinite Intent Bodhisattva, like Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva and Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, have all achieved Buddhahood. However, the Bodhisattva Inexhaustible Intention could not bear to see all things suffering endlessly throughout his life, so he made a great wish deep in his heart, hoping to save all suffering creatures in the world. He would not do it until all living beings became Buddhas. Take the final step to become a Buddha.

However, people without wisdom will fall deeper and deeper into the troubled love river endlessly, and they will never be able to reach the state of cutting the thread of love with a wise sword. People's hearts are like dust, restless and constantly changing. What's more, how many worlds are there? There are countless sentient beings, so the Bodhisattva's attainment of Buddhahood is far away, so he is called the Bodhisattva of Infinite Intent.

This Bodhisattva hopes to fill the endless river of love, turn the infinite world into a paradise, and transform all troubled sentient beings into Buddhas. If such a vow can be fulfilled, its merits will naturally be endless.
