Hello everyone. 2020 is an extraordinary year, full of challenges and changes, but it also prompts us to think about what is important and demonstrates our capabilities. Despite the impact of the epidemic, global 5G deployment, development and investment continue to move forward. Let me share with you a set of data: more than 100 operators have deployed 5G commercial networks in more than 40 countries, and more than 300 operators in 85 countries are investing in 5G technology.
In addition, we see strong development of 5G millimeter wave deployment. All major US operators have launched millimeter wave services, and 106 operators worldwide are investing in the commercial deployment of millimeter wave technology. Following the United States and Japan, South Korea and Singapore also launched millimeter wave services.
The 5G mobile terminal market is also resilient. We expect that 5G smartphone shipments will exceed 200 million units this year, and it is expected to reach or exceed 500 million units in 2021. One of the reasons for the continuous development of
5G deployment is the increasing awareness of the influence and advantages of 5G. According to the updated version of the IHS Markit "5G Economy" report, by 2035, 5G will create 13.1 trillion US dollars in global economic output and 22.8 million new jobs. There are huge opportunities in this. 5G is the biggest development opportunity of Qualcomm in history.
For Qualcomm, 2020 is a fulfilling year. Let me share with you the highlights of the mobile business.
We launched the third-generation 5G modem and radio frequency system-Qualcomm Snapdragon X60, which is the fastest modem in the world with a rate of up to 7.5Gbps, supports global dynamic spectrum sharing and carrier aggregation, and can achieve the ultimate in existing spectrum 5G Sub-6GHz performance.
We have expanded our 5G capabilities to Snapdragon 6 Series and 4 Series mobile platforms beyond the flagship level, and support customers to bring more affordable 5G terminals to more than 3.5 billion smartphone users.
We released a new generation of flagship Snapdragon 888 5G mobile platform. The new platform integrates industry-leading 5G, AI, gaming and imaging technology innovations. It will enhance the intelligence level of flagship smartphones, transform camera and video functions, and support comparable products. The console’s gaming experience will empower the future of mobile office and remote collaboration. Snapdragon 888 will set a new benchmark for flagship smartphones in 2021.
2020 is also a fruitful year for our RF front-end business. Despite the initial skepticism, Qualcomm became the industry leader in this field in a short period of time. In fact, we expect to become one of the world's largest RF front-end manufacturers in fiscal 2021. At present, more than 700 5G terminals equipped with Qualcomm solutions have been released or are under development, covering smart phones, PCs, CPEs and IoT terminals. All of these terminals use Qualcomm RF front-end solutions from modems to antennas.
Another business development of Qualcomm in 2020 is also a release that I am excited about. It is the launch of a new series of 5G infrastructure platforms aimed at accelerating the transformation of the cellular ecosystem to interoperability and virtualized radio access networks (vRAN). change. We are very pleased that this series of platforms has been recognized by 15 leading global operators.
We will also extend 5G to computing and extended reality (XR). Lenovo released the world's first 5G notebook computer Flex 5G equipped with the Snapdragon 8cx computing platform. We also announced the launch of Snapdragon 8cx second generation 5G computing platform. Recent industry developments have verified the vision proposed by Qualcomm that the computing revolution will revolve around the realization of a similar experience and SoC architecture to smartphones. 2020 is an extraordinary year. Looking forward to 2021, I would like to share some of my views and predictions with you.
First of all, connection technology is still crucial. As you can see, the way of making calls has completely changed. In 2021, video calling will become your preferred way to talk to others. "Zoom" has become a verb describing "video call" in multiple languages, and it will continue to be used in this way as the online and offline hybrid working mode evolves.
Second, I predict that the integration of office scenes and home environments will continue to deepen. Enterprise-class broadband and Wi-Fi mesh networks will become increasingly popular in the home environment, and a new generation of networked PCs with enhanced security performance that can meet the needs of collaboration, remote office and entertainment will also become increasingly popular.
Third, consumers have put forward higher requirements for car dashboards and infotainment systems. My prediction for this is that most of the new cars on the market will have network connectivity. This trend is transforming the entire automotive industry, bringing changes to automakers, dealers and users.
Fourth, I predict that the digital payment ecosystem will usher in explosive development. The epidemic has accelerated the transformation of today's retail experience to contactless payment, and next year we will see more investment in promoting the transformation of hardware and infrastructure in these technical fields.
