On May 31, 2022, some media reported that after taking measures against Xiaomi, India expanded the scope of its investigation to other Chinese companies, and is currently investigating ZTE and vivo's subsidiaries in India for suspected "financial impropriety" .
Previously, foreign media reported that India's anti-money laundering agency stated that Xiaomi and its subsidiaries illegally remitted overseas money by "pretending to pay copyright fees" and had seized about 4.8 billion yuan of assets belonging to Xiaomi India.
Among them, vivo has always placed high hopes on the Indian market. Its plan is to invest approximately 3 billion yuan in India by 2023 for the production of smartphones, with annual production capacity increasing to 120 million units.
It is so chilling that a Chinese manufacturer like this went to India to invest, but was treated like this! However, this is not the first time that similar incidents have occurred in India.
As early as October 2021, the Indian government began to "attack" Chinese mobile phone manufacturers. At that time, India's Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology issued notices to vivo, OPPO, Xiaomi, and OnePlus, requesting relevant data and details about these mobile phones and their components, and stated that a second notice may be issued in the next few weeks involving requirements. In January 2022, the Indian Ministry of Finance required Xiaomi India to pay an import tax of approximately RMB 550 million.
What is puzzling is that Samsung , which ranks second in market share in India, is not included in the Indian government's investigation list.
