Telstra reported that the malicious SMS interception system it developed blocks approximately 1,500 malicious SMS messages per minute. Blocked messages include decoy text messages that install malware on customers' devices, phishing messages that ask for personal details to be provided to scammers, and scam text messages that ask for financial data.

Telstra also reports that it has prevented more than 200 million scam calls from reaching its customers since launching its scam call blocking feature. These calls include fraudulent calls that pretend to be official customer service calls, as well as calls for phishing campaigns.
