Deng Rongxian was born in Chengdu, Sichuan Province in 1927. In 1945, he was admitted to the former Central University Department of Electrical Engineering. He studied in Chongqing for one year. In 1957, he received an associate doctorate degree with a research thesis on the anti-rheumatic drug "1,2-diphenyl-3,5-pyrazolidinedione". After returning to China, he was assigned to , Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Sciences, as an assistant researcher, engaged in anti-tumor drug research, and was promoted to associate researcher one year later. At the end of 1959, the Institute of Toxicology and Drugs of the Chinese Academy of Military Medical Sciences was transferred to Beijing to engage in military drug research. The research group she led has synthesized nearly 100 new floral compounds of various types. In 1965, he was appointed as the deputy director of the Medicinal Chemistry Laboratory of the Institute of Radiation Medicine, Chinese Academy of Military Medical Sciences.

Phenfluorenol was identified as a new drug by the National New Drug Review Committee in 1987.In the new drug certificate issued by the Ministry of Health, researcher Deng Rongxian was listed as the first inventor. The application of benzofluorenol, artemisinin and their derivatives not only made my country basically eradicate malaria, but also saved the lives of all human malaria patients. The combination of the two has been proved by animal experiments to have good curative effect, low toxicity and no obvious side effects. As a result, a new preparation for the treatment of falciparum malaria "artemether-benzofluorenol tablets" (abbreviated as "complex artemether tablets") was developed, which was included in the 1990 edition of " Chinese Pharmacopoeia ". It is another major contribution of Chinese pharmaceutical workers to human health after artemisinin.

Alumni Deng Rongxian is a second-level researcher of the Academy of Military Medical Sciences, and has served as director of the room and member of the expert group. He has co-authored monographs such as "Introduction to New Drug Evaluation" and "Basic Principles of Drug Design". In addition, she has published 26 papers publicly and 21 confidential papers have not been published. In 1993, Deng Rongxian alumni won the Wang Danping Science Award.


Alumni Deng Rongxian has been unable to take care of her children and family for a long time in order to complete her work, and sometimes even had to temporarily tie her son to the foot of the bed for work. While making outstanding contributions, the long-term overload of work has seriously damaged her health. In 1998, Deng Rongxian accidentally caught a cold. Due to his negligence, his condition suddenly deteriorated. Unfortunately, he passed away in Beijing on February 5 at the age of 71.
