Hainan Daily Sanya, October 26 (Reporter Huang Yuanyan) On October 25, the "Exploration 2" scientific research ship returned to Sanya with the "Deep Sea Warrior" manned submersible , completing the deployment experiment of the large-depth in-situ scientific experiment station on the seabed.

The main task of this voyage is to carry out the sea trial tasks of the series of equipment developed by the "Deep Sea and Deep Sea In-situ Science Experiment Station" of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Strategic Pioneer Technology Special Project, "Deep Sea and Deep Sea In-situ Science Experiment Station", as well as the key technology verification work for related projects of the National Key R&D Plan. The participating equipment includes Undersea base station, in-situ laboratory, glider and other multi-type equipment. This sea trial adopts domestic technology jointly developed by Qingdao Institute of Energy of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Deep Sea, which has realized the integration of megawatt-hour solid-state lithium batteries in deep sea equipment for the first time, and has been tested and applied in the deep sea level of kilometers, verifying the safety and effectiveness of energy and its management system.

"Utilizing the large capacity of electricity possessed by the base station, this sea trial also verified the base station's submarine navigation capability and autonomous site transfer function. This function can realize the precise layout of the base station on the seabed and meet the operating needs of multiple sites. The base station can support platforms such as in-situ laboratories to access and supply power to the seabed. At the same time, information interconnection between platforms is carried out, long-term collaborative detection is carried out, and the operation mode is more flexible." said Chen Jun, associate researcher at the Institute of Deep Sea Science and Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences.

During the 11-day voyage, the Deep Sea Warrior manned submersible completed its 500th dive, with a maximum dive depth of 1,450 meters. After completing 9 hours of underwater work, it successfully returned to the Explorer 2 mother ship.
"Through these 500 dives, the 'Deep Sea Warrior' has a professional and professional submarine team. This team not only adopts the internationally advanced conventional operation model of one day at sea, but also creates a unique operating procedure and record such as night dives, 2 consecutive days of 3 dives, and 8 days of 12 dives." said Du Mengran, a researcher at the Institute of Deep Sea Science and Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Since August 2017, the Deep Sea Warrior manned submersible has carried out 41 voyages in the South China Sea , the Southwest Indian Ocean and the Mariana Trench in the Western Pacific. The average water time of 500 dives is 8 hours and 17 minutes, of which the longest time is 12 hours and 53 minutes, with an average dive depth of 1957 meters and a maximum dive depth of 4546 meters.
