The book is mainly adapted and expanded based on the script of the documentary "Qilian Mountain National Park" produced by the Gansu Provincial Party Committee Propaganda Department. As the first documentary of pure wild animals in Gansu Province, "Qilian Mountain National Park" tells the story of wild animals in Qilian Mountain National Park represented by snow leopard , black-necked crane , wild yak and white-lipped deer . After premiering on CCTV Documentary Channel on September 29 and 30, 2021, it received a warm response and received rave reviews. It was later replayed on CCTV Documentary Channel many times and produced an international English version to promote it worldwide.

The first time I touched the Qilian Mountains was in 2013 when I went to shoot a short documentary about the melting of glaciers in . The cold Tiger Glacier left an indelible impression on me.
On October 23, 2013, after falling from the glacier, I went to the already silent wetland. Beneath the dead grass, only two black-necked cranes were left. They were very cautious and flapped their wings and left. They are the last stayers of the wetlands and will soon fly south through the winter.
Under the guidance of Da Buschlit, the stationmaster of Yanchi Bay Protection Station, we drove 4700 meters higher from the wetland at an altitude of 3300 meters. The wind was about to tear apart human faces, and the wild yaks hid in the depressions of the mountains to shelter the wind. I dragged my heavy legs to the end of the team, but deep down, I was extremely excited - a wild animal kingdom is no longer far away from me.
The person in front of me has crossed the mountain. Within my eyes, I am the only one who can hear me. The sound of the wind is the sound of my breathing. I also thought about a message they told me: an infrared camera arranged in a ditch in Yanchi Bay took several photos of snow leopards.
In 2013, the species of Snow Leopard was unknown and few people paid attention to it. It is different from today and is now a big star.
This news shocked me: According to the inferences of foreign wildlife experts at that time, the snow leopards in China were extinct. I took photos of snow leopards in Yanchi Bay in the north of the Qilian Mountains. Did this give me a chance: make the snow leopard into a documentary to show the world the beauty of Chinese wild animals, and at the same time realize my personal life value.
At that time, I had just left the newspaper in Guangdong and worked as an investigative reporter for ten years in front-line media in China. I was still in a state of exploring my next life plan. I was still thinking about finding an opportunity to put aside my mediocrity and be able to do something I like.
There was a time when foreign wildlife photographers regarded whether they could successfully take a wild snow leopard as one of the standards for the world's top wildlife photographers. The Snow Leopard documentary is not as simple as imagined. It’s been ten years since my team and I took photos of the snow leopard. This decade has proven that it is even harder than our toughest expectations. Faced with snow leopards, foreign wildlife documentary colleagues are also struggling to find opportunities for breakthroughs. Sometimes when we talk, it is still the same word - difficult.
is our opportunity because of the difficulty, and I always think so.
In early 2014, we officially started a long journey of shooting plateau wildlife. Until today, this journey continues.Maybe, it will last until 2040, if possible.
In 2017, commissioned by National Forestry and Grassland Administration , the "Report on Wildlife Diversity Mainly of Snow Leopards in Qilian Mountains". At that time, the Qilian Mountain National Park was also called "Qilian Mountain Snow Leopard National Park", and the name was changed later. This is also one of the early projects of Qilian Mountain National Park and the first integrated film we have done for Qilian Mountain.
In 2018, commissioned by the Propaganda Department of the Gansu Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, the first and second episodes of the documentary "Qilian Mountain National Park". This documentary is a collection of our previous eight years of material. On September 29 and 30, 2021, the documentary was broadcast on CCTV Documentary Channel. The feedback after the broadcast can be described as a wave of praise.
Qilian Mountains have an important position in China's long history, and there is no doubt that this is the case. Nowadays, with the development of the country, the Qilian Mountains has also given the important task of the ecological barrier of the "Belt and Road" in the "Belt and Road". In fact, Qilian Mountains is also one of the most typical areas of wildlife diversity in the world. Wild animals are the elves of mountains and rivers and the soul of the ecological environment. Only when the ecological environment is improving can Qilian Mountains be the eternal paradise for wild animals.
