The scorching sun is baking the earth mercilessly, the air is filled with a pungent smell, cicada is chirping ignorantly, and we are on the winding mountain road Running non-stop on the road, conducting long-distance march training for the Devil's Week.
This is the first time I have participated in Devil's Week training since I joined the special operations team. Everything is much more difficult than I imagined. My biggest weakness is physical fitness, and this long-distance march training made me miserable. The march went smoothly at first, but then the weather was too hot. Every step I took made me feel out of breath. My clothes were soaked with sweat again and again, and dried again and again under the scorching sun.
Because we didn’t have much experience in long-distance marching, as newcomers, we quickly drank all the water in our water bottles. But at that time, we had only run less than half of the distance. The further we got to the back, the more miserable we became. I wanted to drink water but found that the kettle had already reached the bottom. When the party members and veterans in the team saw our helpless look, they all poured water from their kettles to us. We were a little embarrassed: "You gave us all the water, so what do you drink?" One of the veterans said, nearby There is water in the lake, and they can just go and fetch it to drink.
Not long after, the veterans came back to fetch water, and our long-distance march set sail again. A few hours later, we finally completed three-quarters of the way and took a brief rest. Because of the previous lessons, we recruits also learned to save water. However, during the break, I inadvertently caught a glimpse of a veteran party member who carefully spit something out of his mouth while drinking water. Out of curiosity, When he went to the toilet, I opened his kettle. I was really surprised when I opened it: the water in his kettle was so turbid, with not only sediment in it, but even one or two leaves floating on it. At that moment, I suddenly understood that the veterans went to the lake to fetch water like this, and they left all the clean water to us new recruits. With a lot of emotion in my heart, I carefully screwed the kettle and put it back in its place.
After a while, the veteran came back. He drank heavily from the pot and told the recruit next to him that the water brought from the lake was sweet. Looking at his gentle smiling face, I really couldn't hold back. At that moment, I understood why they could become party members.
Looking at my own pot of clear water, I drank it in small sips. It was the first time I felt that water was so sweet. From that moment on, I secretly made up my mind that only by continuous hard work can I repay these worthy things. Dear veterans.
