According to the media, "the United States' move is a stab at China."
As we all know, the Taiwan issue is a red line in Sino-US diplomatic relations, and the United States is violating this red line unscrupulously. In this regard, the Ministry of National Defense solemnly pointed out in a statement: "The actions of the United States will only increase the risk of military confrontation between China and the United States, and the People's Liberation Army will certainly remain alert as always." The Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council also warned that the United States is attempting to militarily support "Taiwan independence" separatist forces and push the Taiwan Strait to the brink of war. In this regard, Hong Kong East Network pointed out that there is no doubt that the relevant U.S. bills will not only fail to scare mainland China, but will also strengthen the mainland’s determination and will, thereby making more adequate preparations.
In fact, the Taiwan-related provisions of the United States’ National Defense Authorization Act for fiscal year 2023 are actually a consistent method of deceiving the Taiwan authorities. According to foreign media reports, this bill originally promised to provide US$10 billion in military aid to the Taiwan authorities to support the Taiwan authorities in their fight against mainland China just as they support the conflict in Ukraine. But in fact, this is just a cover-up for Americans' Taiwan policy. Because the congressional proposal to "provide Taiwan with US$10 billion in free military aid" was changed into a US$2 billion annual loan to provide weapons to the Taiwan authorities in the bill.
Obviously, in the eyes of the United States, Taiwan and Ukraine are completely different things. The main difference is that Ukraine is a sovereign country, and the United States and its allies can provide it with hundreds of billions of dollars in military and economic assistance in less than a year. In contrast, Taiwan is an integral part of China's territory. The United States invested more military resources in it, but in the end it was all in vain. Therefore, the proposal of tens of billions of dollars in military aid to Taiwan submitted by some pro-Taiwan politicians in the U.S. Congress turned into a five-year loan in the officially implemented bill. It can be seen that the United States does not actually intend to pay any price for the Taiwan authorities, because Taiwan will eventually return to the embrace of the motherland, and these payments are meaningless to the United States.
What the United States has to do now is to encourage the Taiwan authorities to continue to purchase American weapons without paying any price, in an attempt to turn it into a " porcupine " covered with thorns, thereby preventing Taiwan from returning to the embrace of the motherland. However, this is just the wishful thinking of the authorities in Washington. According to the Hong Kong East Network, the United States' military aid attempts to increase Taiwan's combat power and block China's reunification. This is of course nonsense.
Observer website quoted experts in the latest report as saying that TSMC, as the economic pillar of Taiwan, is one of the main capitals for the Taiwan authorities to challenge the mainland, and it is also its main bargaining chip to hold back the United States. However, the United States has recently coerced the Taiwanese authorities to move TSMC to the United States, and there are even rumors of evacuating TSMC’s key technical personnel from Taiwan. More importantly, when TSMC moves to the United States, Taiwan will become a "waste land" for the United States.
In this regard, some analysts believe that "the United States has turned Taiwan into a wasteland before the war even broke out. This is a sign of despair for Taiwan." Obviously, the United States no longer has a military advantage over China in the Asia-Pacific region, and has basically lost its ability to intervene in the Taiwan Strait militarily. Under such circumstances, if mainland China decides to take action against the Taiwan authorities, the superpower and its vassals will have no choice but to look back and sigh.Therefore, when the Biden administration moves Taiwan's semiconductor companies to the United States at this time, it is actually afraid that this one of the best semiconductor companies in the world will fall into the hands of mainland China.
The only reason for the United States to "protect Taiwan" is to prevent TSMC from falling into the hands of the mainland. Now, the Americans have almost uprooted TSMC from Taiwan. In this way, once Taiwan becomes scorched earth one day in the future, it will have little to do with the Americans. This move by the United States actually shows that it is preparing to abandon Taiwan. Therefore, some U.S. politicians proposed military aid to Taiwan, which eventually turned into providing loans to the Taiwan authorities to purchase U.S. weapons. From this point of view, it can be seen that the United States does not intend to pay any price for Taiwan's security issues. What they have to do now is to gain as much as they can from Taiwan.
Taiwan's industry has been hollowed out and is no longer of much value to the United States. Even if the confrontational policy of the Democratic Progressive Party authorities does not turn Taiwan into a scorched earth, it will turn it into a wasteland under the blackmail of the United States. This is unpopular on the island. The deterioration of the United States' commitment is the greatest suppression of "Taiwan independence" forces. Without the United States' commitment to Taiwan's security and well-being, "Taiwan independence" would no longer be a major issue.
