When the Red 2nd Army and the Red 6th Army were reorganized into the Red 2 Front Army, Yan Jinsheng served as the deputy director of the Youth Department of the Political Department of the Red 2nd Army. That year, he was 18 years old.
Yan Jinsheng is 18 years old and is an intermediate cadre in the Red Army who is engaged in political work. It can be said that his future is limitless. After the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, Yan Jinsheng was the section chief of the Organization Department of the 120th Division of the Eighth Route Army. Later, under the leadership of the division commander He Long and political commissar Guan Xiangying, he followed the main force of the 120th Division from northwest of Shanxi and , crossed the two railway blockade lines of Pinghan and Tongpu controlled by the Japanese army, and advanced into Hebei Central .

In the process of transforming prisoners, Yan Jinsheng also found systematic and popular methods. The "Summary of Preliminary Experience in Nine Heavens Class Education" he created was recognized by great men. Yan Jinsheng himself was commended and praised by great men for his contributions in the transformation. When he was awarded the title in 1955, Yan Jinsheng was awarded the rank of major general and became the first batch of founding major generals.
After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Yan Jinsheng still held most of the positions in politics.
