After trial, it was found that before the Spring Festival in 1999 to January 2020, the defendant Deng Huilin served as deputy director of the Planning and Finance Department of Hubei Township Enterprise Administration Bureau, director of the Office of Hubei Provincial Economic Commission, deputy director of the Hubei Provincial Economic Commission, deputy mayor of the Yichang Municipal Government, member of the Standing Committee of the Yichang Municipal Party Committee and director of the Municipal Public Security Bureau, Hubei Provincial Public Security Department Deputy Director, head of the Anti-Secession Guidance and Coordination Office of the Central Political and Legal Affairs Commission, director of the Office of the Central Political and Legal Affairs Commission, member of the Party Leadership Group, deputy mayor, director of the Municipal Public Security Bureau, and other positions, as well as the convenient conditions formed by power and status, to provide assistance to relevant units or individuals in matters such as business operations, special number plate processing, and promotion and adjustment of positions, and illegally accept property directly or through others, totaling more than RMB 42.67 million.
Baoding Intermediate People's Court held that the defendant Deng Huilin's behavior constituted the crime of accepting bribes, and the amount of bribes was particularly huge. He also had severe punishments such as many attempts to obtain promotion and adjustment for others, and using his power to intervene in case handling, and should be severely punished according to law. At the same time, Deng Huilin took the initiative to confess most of the facts of bribery that the case handlers have not yet grasped, truthfully confessed all the criminal facts, pleaded guilty and repented, actively returned the stolen money and property, and all the stolen money and property have been recovered, etc., and can be given a lighter punishment according to law.
