Hebei Provincial Earthquake Bureau Relying on the "Hebei Province Urban Active Fault Information Service System" that has been initially built, based on the results of urban active fault detection, earthquake risk evaluation and earthquake damage prediction databases in the province, it provides public services to government departments such as natural resources, urban and rural planning, as well as design units, scientific research institutes, etc. through the province's basic geography, regional earthquake structure, earthquake risk evaluation results and other earthquake comprehensive information resources.
Hebei Province's earthquake-active faults are widely distributed, and historical earthquake disasters are serious. Many major earthquakes at home and abroad and their analysis and analysis of disaster phenomena have shown that active faults are the root cause of earthquakes and the "culprit" of earthquake disasters.

Finding the accurate location of earthquake active faults and making scientific evaluations of their attributes and earthquake risks is an important basic work in earthquake disaster prevention. Lu Guojun, director of the Active Fault Information Service Center of Hebei Provincial Earthquake Bureau, introduced: "Although it is still impossible to accurately predict the time, location and intensity of earthquakes, as long as you know the exact location and activity shape of the distribution of active faults, you will know the location where earthquakes are prone to occur, so that corresponding earthquake prevention and disaster reduction measures can be taken. Therefore, the investigation and research of active faults is one of the effective ways to reduce earthquake disasters."
The purpose of urban active fault detection is to find out the spatial distribution and activity of major faults in urban areas and near areas, study and determine the possibility and upper limit of earthquakes in each major fault, and build a database and information service system based on the detection results data to provide basic data and scientific basis for urban planning, land use, and earthquake prevention and disaster reduction. Li Guanghui, deputy director of the Hebei Provincial Earthquake Bureau, said: "During the 12th Five-Year Plan period, Hebei Province uniformly carried out live fault detection and earthquake risk evaluation projects in the main urban areas of 11 prefecture-level cities in the province, with a total investment of 114 million yuan. Live fault detection and earthquake risk evaluation projects have been gradually applied to land space planning, engineering project site selection and design, scientific research and research, etc.."
