"I want to see the dusk in the capital from Kiyomizu Temple , and I also want to see the sunset on the west mountain. I heard Chibiko say this again and again, and Machi nodded in agreement."

—— Kawabata Yasunari "Ancient Capital"

Before I went to Kyoto, what I knew about Kyoto was still stuck in the scene depicted in Kawabata Yasunari's book "Ancient Capital". From 1961 to 1962, Kawabata Yasunari created "Ancient Capital", and through the story of the adopted daughter of Chiekiko, the silk wholesaler, the spring, summer, autumn and winter of Kyoto, a detailed display of the spring, summer, autumn and winter of Kyoto. Looking for the place in the book, carrying my bags, and starting my trip to Kyoto.

Kyoto, the ancient Japanese name " Heianjing " Historically recorded that Heianjing was built in the Tang Dynasty in my country, which was built in the imperial city and palace city in the north of the city, and the outer city was the outer city. The outer city is divided into two parts: the west side is called Chang'an ( Youjing ), and the east side is called Luoyang ( Zuojing). After the right side is abandoned due to low-lying and humidity, Zuojing gradually grew and grew. People are also used to living in Zuojing, so Kyoto, Japan is also also known as "Luoyang". That is, the Japanese word "Shangluo" means "going to Kyoto".

Ancient capital Kyoto was built based on the Japanese aesthetic consciousness that has been popular in dynasties, represented by historical buildings such as shrines and Buddhist pavilions, traditional activities, etc. It is known as the "Millennium Ancient Capital", which is Japan's "spiritual hometown" and "the origin of culture". However, as a symbol of Japanese culture, there is probably no city that can have so many quiet ancient temples and shrines like Kyoto. The amazing density of ancient buildings makes Kyoto one of the most culturally rich cities in the world. This has created such a city that claims to be far away from the hustle and bustle of the world by tradition.

Itinerary Planning: 2-3 days

Fushimi Inari Daishu

About 1/3 of the shrines in Japan belong to Inari Shrine. Fushimi Inari Daishu is the main body of Inari Shrine. It has a noble status and a long history, and has many pilgrims. It is one of the most popular shrines in Kyoto. Here the fox is regarded as the messenger of the god Inari, and various fox stone statues have become a big landscape. The most distinctive horse painted with a fox face is the most distinctive. At the entrance of the shrine stands the big Torii , which is the ,000 Torii that appeared in the movie "Memoirs of Geisha". It is also one of the most representative landscapes in Kyoto. The dense vermilion thousand-ben torii and fox stone statues intertwined to form passages leading to the top of Inari Mountain, like endless red corridors. The red torii here also represents the most pious prayer, so naturally it becomes extraordinary.

33 Halls were built in 1164 AD. There are 33 halls, which enshrine 1,001 Guanyin. Here is one of the most amazing Guanyin statue groups in the world, and it is the longest wooden building in the world, 120 meters long. There is also a statue of Guanyin, a statue of Thousand-Armed Guanyin, which is regarded as a national treasure in Japan, which is a masterpiece of sculptor Zhan Qing. Thousands of vertical Guanyin statues in the Buddhist temple are all carved with cypress wood and wrapped in gold foil. The Buddha statues on more than 20 pairs of arms form the magnificent wonder of the hall.It does not have too many gorgeous decorations, but only the simplicity of precipitation from more than a thousand years of history and the peace from the current world and the downtown area. It is amazing, how can a spectacular place that cannot be expressed in words not allow people to go there in person?

Kiyomizu Temple

Kiyomizu Temple is named after the clear water in the temple, surrounded by green trees. As the oldest temple in Kyoto, it is known as one of the three major scenic spots in Kyoto and was listed on the World Cultural Heritage List in 1994. Many tourists who come and go like to drink and pray at Yinyu Waterfall under the Qingshui stage, because these three sources represent health, academics and marriage, and are said to prevent diseases and disasters. (Everyone just chooses one place to pray for blessings, don’t be greedy) Here, guarding and drawing lots are also essential links, and it is said that they are very effective, so don’t miss it. The antique architecture and elegant and gentle kimono are the scenery everywhere here. If you have never experienced kimono, this is your beginning. In addition to being born, Kyoto also has a world-wide side. Whether it is passing by Hanami Koji and the dressed geisha in full bloom, or watching an kabuki performance, it will make people feel the secular customs of Kyoto. Although Kyoto is a city full of profound cultural heritage, it does not lack the vitality that a modern city should have. The street bookstores, coffee shops, tea houses and specialty shops can make people feel its youth and vitality.

Shendocho

Shendocho is the most lively street in Kyoto. It has large and small izakayas, bars, and restaurants, and maintains the classical architectural style. As a popular traditional Japanese street (narrow) and a gathering place for delicious food, it is one of the most charming old streets in Kyoto. The restaurant next to the river has its own balcony for cooling off, and you can enjoy the night view of the Yachuan River during dinner. Don't miss anyone who loves taking pictures. In addition to shops, this street, which is also known as the "Flower Street", sometimes has a Kabuki performance venue, and you can occasionally see Kabuki in the alley. This is the last few lively places in Kyoto after nightfall.

Shijo Kawahara-Cheng

The most prosperous commercial area in Kyoto, but compared to Tokyo, the shops here are closed earlier, so it is recommended to go early if you need shopping. Different commercial streets are hung high in bars and teahouses in the streets and alleys, and the brightly lit nights. Sure enough, the fireworks on earth are good and make people cry. It is valuable to have business development without losing old things. It would be even more meaningful to be able to visit Kyoto on many local festivals and join the crowds of people celebrating on the streets, and feel the pulse of this thousand-year-old capital and its beat frequency.

As the "country of cherry blossoms", Kamakawa and Kyoto Nijo Castle are both cherry blossom viewing destinations, but when I went there it was not the season, so I didn't plan this itinerary, which naturally became a great regret in my heart. If I were lucky enough to come again, I would definitely enjoy the cherry blossoms enough to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the cherry blossoms blooming and the egrets stopping in the river. Use this as a make-up for this time.

Food recommendation

年大安全娱: It is a celebrity store, relatively popular, and mainly focuses on beef intestine hotpot. The beef intestine tastes mellow, fat but not greasy, and belongs to the authentic Japanese flavor. The location is relatively hidden, but there are still many people coming to consume, so basically they need to queue up. But good things are worth waiting for.

AWOMB: This store is a creative hand-rolled set meal, and you need to book in advance (it is said that this store has a history of 100 years). The store is not big and the environment is quiet. You need to go through the corridor and the small courtyard to enter the canteen. The dishes are creative and quality. If you want to try it out or take photos, you can come and try it.

Sanyuting: A century-old restaurant, you also need to book in advance. It is most famous for Sukiyaki , and is cooked on site by the clerk. The beef is of good quality and melts in the mouth. It is recommended to match it with egg liquid (not fishy). The service in the store is enthusiastic, but the overall price is relatively expensive. If you want to try traditional sukiyaki, you can choose this store. If you want to have fresh pictures, you can choose a branch (slightly cheaper than this store)
