Many people suddenly panicked after finding high uric acid in physical examination: I have gout! It seemed as if I had seen my joint pain unbearable, and then I tried every means to reduce uric acid, and even believed in some folk remedies.
However, the problem is not that simple!
Hyperuricemia ≠Gout
First of all, high uric acid does not necessarily lead to gout, and blood uric acid may not necessarily increase when gout occurs.
study shows that 5% to 18.8% of hyperuricemia will develop into gout, 1% of gout patients have always been low in blood uric acid, and 1/3 of the patients have low blood uric acid during acute attacks.
Therefore, reducing uric acid is not that simple. The control of uric acid depends on your own physical condition, such as whether there is gout , whether it is combined with kidney damage, etc. The uric acid control standards for different situations are different. How to reduce uric acid in
?
To facilitate everyone’s memory, today I would like to give you a simple and easy-to-remember formula - "56789 Principle".
"56789" represents the uric acid control standards in five cases, but the unit is not umol/L, but mg/dl (1mg/dl=60umol/L).
5mg/dl
gout stones, kidney disease
gout patients with gout stones, it is recommended to reduce blood uric acid to below 5mg/dl (i.e. 300umol/L).
patients with gout kidney damage should also use 300umol/L as the final target value for uric acid reduction treatment, because reducing blood uric acid and controlling gout can reduce urate crystallization of the kidneys.
6mg/dl
Gout stones
Gout patients without gout stones are recommended to reduce blood uric acid below 6mg/dl (i.e. 360umol/L), which can promote the dissolution of urate crystals that already exist or may exist.
7mg/dl
Hyperuricemia
We have always defined the standards for high uric acid in men and women, that is, men > 420umol/L and women > 360umol/L.
However, some experts believe that the two standards will cause unclear diagnosis of patients in the range of 360~420umol/L and will also cause unnecessary controversy. Therefore, it is recommended to unify the definition of high uric acid at 420umol/L (7mg/dl).
Under normal diet, it is monitored twice a day, regardless of gender or age, and blood uric acid level >420 umol/L is hyperuricemia.
8mg/dl
Card and cerebrovascular disease
0a large amount of evidence shows that hyperuricemia has become an independent risk factor for cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease. For those with hyperuricemia and cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, if the blood uric acid exceeds 8 mg/dl (i.e. 480umol/L), in addition to dietary control, it also requires intervention and treatment for lowering uric acid.
9mg/dl
Medicament intervention
Patients with hyperuric acid reaching 9mg/dl (i.e. 540umol/L) must require drug intervention regardless of whether there is cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease, because the risk of inducing hypertension, heart disease, vascular sclerosis, diabetes, kidney stones and even stroke is greatly increased.
Uric acid is not the lower the better
It should be noted that the lower the uric acid is not the better. It is recommended that the blood uric acid level is generally not less than 180 umol/L.
Because uric acid has antioxidant and maintains blood pressure, this is a normal physiological need of the human body. If the long-term low uric acid will increase the risk of diseases such as senile dementia and multiple sclerosis.
If you ignore it for a long time, it will seriously harm our organs and tissues. Therefore, we must pay attention to the treatment of hyperuricemia and gout, and we must meet the standards for treatment!
Next time you can’t figure out the uric acid control standards, you might as well recite “56789” and you will know it in your heart.
