"History of Art in the Palace Museum" by Zhu Yong People's Literature Publishing House
"The History of Art in the Palace Museum" is a Chinese art history connected by cultural relics collected by the Palace Museum. In other words, the cultural relics collected by the Palace Museum itself constitute a grand, vast and visible history of Chinese art.
The Palace Museum collects more than 1.86 million pieces (sets) of cultural relics in total. These movable cultural relics include ceramics, jade, bronze, inscriptions, calligraphy, paintings, treasures, lacquerware, enamel, sculptures, inscribed, furniture, rare ancient books, stationery utensils, imperial and empress seal book, clocks and instruments, military ceremonies, religious cultural relics, etc., with a total of 25 categories and 69 sub-items (excluding architecture). Among the precious cultural relics (level one, two, and three) in the national state-owned cultural and museum units, the Palace Museum accounts for about 41.98% of the precious cultural relics collected by the Palace Museum, and the cultural relics in the Palace Museum are in an inverted pyramid structure, with the most first-level cultural relics, the second-level cultural relics, and the third-level cultural relics again. So some people say that almost every cultural relics in the Forbidden City is a national treasure, which is not an exaggeration, because every cultural relics are irreplaceable.
