After days of heavy rainstorms hit Henan, the loss of life and property in the affected areas was touching, and the disaster situation in the Zhengzhou factory in Foxconn has attracted much attention.
Foxconn Technology Group has three factory areas in Zhengzhou, namely the Zhengzhou Airport Factory, the Economic and Technological Development Zone Factory and the Zhongmu County Factory. Among them, Zhengzhou Foxconn is headquartered in Zhengzhou Airport. The Zhengzhou Foxconn factory is Foxconn's largest park, with hundreds of thousands of employees. It is also the world's largest Apple mobile phone production base. It has more than 90 production lines. About half of the world's Apple mobile phones come from the Zhengzhou Foxconn factory.
"Daily Economic News" reporter contacted Foxconn on the morning of July 21 to understand the situation. The other party responded: "In response to Zhengzhou's water situation, the group has launched a response mechanism as soon as possible, taking the protection of colleagues as the primary principle, and continues to provide good employee care and safe production. At present, the personnel in the Zhengzhou park are safe and safe, and the group will adjust operations according to changes in the water situation."

Among the three major factory areas, the Zhongmu County factory area was most severely affected by rainwater and has been suspended. The reporter noticed that until July 22, some Foxconn employees still posted a message for help because they were trapped in the dormitory.
"Zhongmu Foxconn has 1,800 (employees) trapped in the factory and 700 are trapped in the living area." On July 22, a Weibo user posted for help.
Today (July 23), a reporter from "Daily Economic News" contacted an employee of the Foxconn Zhongmu factory. He told the reporter that the rescue has been in place and he has escaped.
According to the employee's recollection, it started to rain heavily in the local area on the night of the 20th. "In the morning (the next day), we saw that the water depth at the dormitory building was about 1.5 meters deep, and about 1,000 employees were trapped in the dormitory, with no water or food."
Due to the bad signal of water and power outage, many workers ran to the roof of the dormitory building and called the outside world for help. On the morning of July 21, the employee's mobile phone was turned off due to power outage and his family could not contact him, so he posted a request for help online.
is also due to these requests for help. By July 22, rescue personnel had successively delivered some rescue supplies. At the same time, the water on the road decreased and fell below the thigh. So some local employees began to wade home one after another, and some other foreign employees continued to stay in the dormitory.
As for the situation in the production area, the employee said that he was trapped in the dormitory building and could not go over to check it, but a worker who had been there told him that the water was almost as high as the office desktop, and that the computers and equipment had been flooded. He said that the factory has not notified employees to repair equipment, etc., but only notified the start time and other notices.

"Daily Economic News" reporter contacted Foxconn to understand the situation. The other party responded that the Internet rumored that the severe flooding was the subsidiary of Zhongmu Park belonging to a subsidiary of FIT (a subsidiary of Foxconn, Hongteng Precision Technology Co., Ltd.), with an average number of employees of 1,700, mainly producing connectors for PCs. The main factory areas that produce smartphones are not significantly affected, with only water accumulation outside the park.
Airport Factory is the headquarters of Foxconn, Zhengzhou and the largest factory area. This afternoon (July 23), when the reporter from "Daily Economic News" came to the factory, production work had resumed here. Several staff members in the factory told reporters that mobile phones are mainly produced here.
The reporter noticed that the ground in the factory was dry and there were no water accumulation, and there were many freight trucks driving. According to an employee surnamed Sun, although it has rained heavily in the park these days, the terrain here is high and the soil is sandy, which is not easy to accumulate rainwater, so there is no deep water accumulation.
The reporter learned from many employees that during the heavy rain in Zhengzhou, the employees in the factory were in normal get off work and work order, and supermarkets, hotels, and dormitories near the factory were not affected by the rain.
According to an employee surnamed Sun, the factory covers an area of about 10 square kilometers and the designed full-loaded employees can reach 400,000.
Public information shows that there are more than 90 production lines in the three major factories in Zhengzhou, and about half of the world's Apple phones come from the Foxconn factory in Zhengzhou. In other words, whether the Zhengzhou Foxconn factory is operating normally will directly affect the sales of the iPhone 13 series in the second half of this year.
At present, Apple is becoming the biggest beneficiary of Huawei's lack of high-end products. In a research report released by CITIC Securities recently, it pointed out: "Apple's new phones in the second half of the year have started supply chain stocking at the end of June this year, and are ahead of previous years. It is expected that the sales of new phones in 2021H2 are expected to be in the order of 80-90 million units, a significant increase from 70-80 million in 2020. As for the whole year of 2021, Apple's total sales can reach 220 million units."
