Currently, he is working with selected business partners to promote its experimental African swine fever virus vaccine to commercialize.

In addition to the African swine fever virus, his research interests include classical swine fever virus (CSFV) and foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV), who focuses on the molecular mechanisms of viral pathogenesis and virus-host protein interactions, and applies these findings to reasonable vaccine design. He has discovered more than a hundred host-viral protein interactions and has used this discovery in conjunction with customized computational pipelines involving bioinformatics and functional genomic data to determine the key domains of viral proteins. Dr. Gradu has served on multiple scientific committees and fund review teams, and has written a large number of peer-reviewed scientific publications. He currently serves as editor of several scientific journals and serves as Secretary-General-elect of the World Society of Virology.
