French pharmaceutical factory Sanofi (Sanofi) CEO Hudson revealed on February 6 that they will announce a new plan for the development of the 2019 novel coronavirus drug within two weeks. Sanofi wanted to propose specific approaches rather than just announce more "fantasy."

After the outbreak of the novel coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan, China, at least 12 pharmaceutical factories around the world are developing related vaccines or antiviral drugs to assist in the treatment of patients and control the epidemic. However, some pharmaceutical factories are cautious and stressed that it will take some time for the new drug to be born.

Hudson said at a press conference on Sanofi's financial report on the 6th: "At present, other companies have announced R&D actions. We are one of the few companies with professional knowledge, and we can tell which plans are just fantasies and when they may be realized."

Hudson said: "In the next two weeks, you will see more precise progress in the approach we have taken." But he refused to provide further details.

Sanofi has previously stated that they are sharing their expertise and information collected from other epidemics with the "Corporate Epidemic Prevention and Innovation" (CEPI). This institution is collaborating with the medical community to try to develop a vaccine against the 2019 novel coronavirus.
