In response, Hermes said that these works were not authorized or recognized by Hermes, seriously infringing on Hermes' intellectual property rights and trademark rights. They have sent a letter to the artist to stop their creation and asked them to remove all Birkin works. At present, the "MetaBirkins" series has been officially deleted.
Actually, this is not the first time Mason Rothschild has created an NFT work related to a platinum bag. As early as May 2021, he collaborated with another artist Eric Ramirez to create a single NFT work called "Baby Birkin". The bag has a fully transparent texture and the handbag carries a 40-week-old baby. The final price of the work is $23,500. Hermes did not respond to this.
