In the world's World Heritage List, there are 20 places in Japan, including 16 cultural heritages and 4 natural heritages. In the Pacific Ocean, 1,000 kilometers away from Tokyo, the Ogasawara Archipelago, which belongs to the Tokyo capital, is one of these four natural heritage sites. It was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2011.
Ogasawara Islands are located in the Pacific Ocean at 27°45' north latitude, 142°10' east longitude, and 1,000 kilometers south of Tokyo. They are composed of more than 30 large and large islands, from north to south, namely the Father Island Island, the Mama Island Island, the Nandao, the Brother Island, and the Sister Island. The total area is 104 square kilometers and belongs to the Tertiary volcanic island.
Ogasawara Islands have rich tourism resources, and the islands that can be visited include the father island, the mother island, the brother island, the southern island, etc. The island has a variety of vegetation, more than half of which are native Ogasawara; there are no large animals on the island, let alone snakes or beasts. The Ogasawara Islands have extremely rich marine life, including humpback whales, dolphins, , sea turtles, and various colorful tropical fish.
How to get there:
Going to Ogasawara Islands requires a Ogasawara sea transportation from Tokyo Takeshi Port, and sailing for 24 hours. The cycle of Ogasawara sea cruise ship to Ogasawara is six days, each with one day of round trip, and the three-day stay in the island. Please check the Ogasawara Sea Transport official website: www.ogasawarakaiun.co.jp
To get to Takeshiba Port, you need to transfer to the Sayugu Line from Shinbashi Station, get off at Takeshiba Station, and leave.

The largest island in the Ogasawara Island, the island, is covered with subtropical forests, white sand beaches and steep rocky cliffs. There are more than 2,000 residents on the island, mainly tourism, catering and homestay industries. It is also an island in the Ogasawara Islands where people live except the mother island.
The tourism resources of the father island are extremely rich, the dense forests and deep blue ocean create a relaxing atmosphere. Moreover, it is far away from the mainland and has beautiful scenery. It is definitely a paradise for people, fast-paced and cumbersome life that escapes the city.
Father Island itinerary recommended
Day 1: Depart from the Tokyo Zhushi Port Pier at 11 am. The boat is 24 hours a day and you can enjoy the sunset and morning glow of the Pacific Ocean on the boat. You can also access the maps and tour information on the island for free on the boat, and make some necessary preparations for the disembarking tour. The onboard convenience store and restaurant are closed at 10:30 pm.
Day 2: at 11 am Ogasawara ship to Ogasawara Islands Father Island Pier Nimigang Pier, which is also the only dock in Ogasawara Island Omura. After going to the island, you can first solve the lunch problem, including soba, udon, sushi, etc. There are many snack bars, and the prices are fair.
You can take a half-day tour around the island in the afternoon, and if the weather is good, you can also swim on the Dacun Beach. I took the half-day nature tour around the island, and started from 1 pm and ended at 4:30. The itinerary is: Three Sun Moon Mountain Observatory (from February to April every year, you can watch whale on this observation deck); the marine meteorological station (if you go to the right time, you can see many newly hatched turtles); climb the central mountain at an altitude of 319 meters, overlooking the rich and lush father island; finally head to Kopepe Beach, which was discovered by American Kopepe in 1830, so the beach is named after him, where you can snorkeleton and swim, with fine sand and clear water.
The cost of a half-day trip around the island is around 4,000 yen.
Day 3: Hiking (8:30 am to 4:00 pm, including lunch) costs about 8,000 yen
hiking, which is actually climbing the two mountains of the Father Island, Mount Yuri and Mount Weili, with an altitude of about 300 meters. For Chinese people who live in famous mountains and rivers all year round, there is no challenge at all. However, as a world natural heritage, the Ogasawara Archipelago has extremely rich vegetation and animal resources, so they are also very careful in protecting them. They must thoroughly disinfect before entering the mountain, and the soil on their shoes, dust on their pants, etc. must be thoroughly cleaned.
About half of the vegetation and animals on the mountain are Ogasawara native plants. After the weathering and evolution of the marine climate, they have formed a unique variety on the island. I am not a botanist. To be honest, many plants were remembered at that time, but they were forgotten when they turned around. However, there is a plant on the island that is very strange. It is the Maruhara tree. I call it the Octopus tree. The branches and buds stretch everywhere, and the fruits look similar to pineapple. There is also a unique bird on the island called Ogasawara's white-eyed bird (see picture).
These two mountains are very primitive and there is basically no clear path to go, so please be sure to ask for a guide. Climb the rest platform of Mount Weili, overlooking the blue Pacific Ocean and the beautiful South Island, as well as the rich vegetation of the father island. Facing the sea and savoring Japanese bento, it feels so great!
Day 4: Going to the sea to watch whale (8:00 am to 5:00 pm) costs 10,500 yen, lunch low self-esteem.
This itinerary was temporarily added after I arrived on the island to be able to see whales. Before going to sea, you must first pick up diving equipment, because at the appropriate time, the safety officer on the boat will arrange for everyone to go into the sea to swim, and it is a deep-sea diving. It is really an exciting experience.
However, the weather I went to sea that day was not very ideal. It can be said that it was a bit bad, with rain, strong wind, strong waves... all caught up. The planned landing on the South Island did not happen due to strong winds. Our boat boss is also extremely experienced. He immediately changed his itinerary and went to the deep sea to watch whales further away.
I can only say that I am very lucky that in such bad weather conditions, seeing whales is really luckier than anything else. The strong winds and waves this day are worth it. In addition to whales, there are dolphins in the waters near the island. What’s more interesting is that the safety officer on board will arrange for tourists to go into the sea to swim with whales and dolphins.
The most uncomfortable thing about this day is to overcome the problem of seasickness.
Day 5: Return
Day 5: Return
The ship returning to Tokyo from the father island was leaving from the father island II Miangang Pier at 3:30 in the afternoon, so there is still half a day in the morning, so I will go and have a good look at the village of the father island. The Ogasawara Islands were once colonized by the United States, so the architectural style on the island has a strong American style.
Shop on the island’s small shops and buy some special souvenirs; go to the Dashenshan Shrine observatory and overlook this cute island. I think you will feel moved and hope to come again.
At 3:30 pm, the boat left on time, and the islanders on the island gathered at the pier to see off the tourists. When the ship drove out of the dock, the yachts on the island went out to sea collectively, sailing on one side of the Ogasawara sea cruise ship, accompanying tourists to drive far away. It's very touching.
Day 6: Arrived at Tokyo Zhuzhigang Pier at 3 pm.
Language: The language used in Ogasawara Islands is Japanese, and some tour guides will have English services. In Ogasawara Tourist Association, you can provide detailed information on English tour guides.
Accommodation: Accommodation on the island is all homestays, clean and hygienic, and is larger than the area of accommodation in Japan. The accommodation includes breakfast and dinner, and the meal is also very good.
Diet: Restaurants on the island are concentrated in the village, from pasta to traditional Japanese sushi and barbecue, it can be said that there are everything. The price is fair. Turtle sashimi is a must-try and is a unique delicacy on the island.
Island transportation: Island has public transportation, one hour, one day ticket is 500 yen. There are also shops that offer bicycles and motorcycles.
Network: The network on the island is very good, and the WI-FI signal rented from the domestic world roaming is very stable.
Others: There are many beaches in the island of Fu, and each one is clear and sandy, such as Miyanohama Beach (most suitable for snorkeling), Jiru Beach (can dive down to explore Japanese warships attacked by torpedoes during World War II), Kuchinaira Beach (sunbathing, swimming, snorkeling), Kogang Beach (best swimming, sunbathing beach), Kopepe Beach (snorkeling, swimming)
Note: Be prepared for seasickness medicine!
reluctantly left Ogasawara Islands, especially thanking the Tokyo Metropolitan Tourism PR business, the Tokyo Tourism Consortium and the relevant staff for their careful arrangements. Ogasawara, I will definitely come back if I have the chance in the future.
