1956, after taking over the task, FAW began to design a plan. However, due to the limitations of conditions, it was finally decided to copy the Soviet Jill-157 design and liberate CA30.
One of the big considerations is that 50% of the parts of the Jill-157 off-road vehicle and the production of Jiefang CA10 can be used, which can not only meet the needs of the troops, but also reduce costs.
1959, the CA30 off-road vehicle began mass production and equip the army to use weapons such as towing artillery. Jiefang CA30 is also my country's first military off-road vehicle.

2.5t-3.5t military off-road vehicle was put into production in 2 Automobile
01964. Under the combat readiness atmosphere, Eryi's target products were 1-8t trucks and 1-5t off-road vehicle series products, but in the end it decided to produce two military off-road vehicles, 2.5t EQ240 and 3.5t EQ245.
These two models are designed by the factory. After many tests, the vehicle has passed the 25,000 km road test and has 82,000 km military use test.
EQ240 has started design work since December 1968. After several modifications, it was finally completed in 1975. The EQ240 has a load capacity of 2.5 to 4 tons, mainly supplied to the army, and uses an EQ6100 engine, four-stroke, water-cooled, and matched with a 5-speed mechanical gearbox. It has also undergone many improvements afterwards.

After several investigations, the factory site of Shaanxi Automobile was selected. At that time, it was in Mailixigou, the south bank of the Wei River in Qishan County, Shaanxi Province, producing 5T military off-road vehicles.
The 5T off-road vehicle produced by Shaanxi Automobile is named Yan'an brand SX250, designed by Beijing Automobile Factory, and references to foreign models such as Ural and Taitula.
In December 1968, BAIC completed the trial production of SX250. Although the main performance basically meets the tactical requirements of the troops, there are still many problems. When the second round of trial production was still not ideal, the third round of prototype production of SX250 was transferred from BAIC to Shaanxi Automobile.

1967, the National Off-road Vehicle Planning Conference of the Ministry of First Machinery proposed to develop an 8X8 independent suspension high-road performance vehicle. Given that the Jinan Automobile Factory once tried to produce the Yellow River JN250 6X6 off-road vehicle, its performance was close to the requirements of the troops and was the largest off-road vehicle in China at that time. Therefore, the State Planning Commission and the General Staff decided to cooperate with the Ministry of Machinery and Jiqiu.
The car uses two front axles and rear axles. Each of the 8 half axles is equipped with one wheel, all of which are drive wheels, which is the 8X8 structure. The whole vehicle is an independent suspension and a through-bridge chassis.
