But no one in China can remember "Quiet Night Thoughts".

According to scholars' research, "Quiet Night Thoughts" was written approximately in 726 AD. At that time, critics did not think that the poem was of the best quality. He Zhizhang and Li Bai met in 742. He was amazed by Li Bai's literary talent because of " Shu Road is difficult to ".
It is undeniable that "The Road to Shu" is also a famous work throughout the ages, but in terms of singing alone, this poem is far from what is the same as "Silent Night Thoughts".
Song Dynasty writer Wang Anshi , when he compiled the poems of Li Bai, Du Fu , Han Yu and Ouyang Xiu , he "rely Li Bai is the lowest, and ordinary people are suspicious of it." Wang Anshi derogated Li Bai the most because his poems were vulgar. Nine out of the ten poems were about wine and women.

Zhao Xuejiao means that writing poetry requires educating people. The people are not educated, what's the use of writing any good?
Zhao Cigong finished this, more than a thousand years later, China published a "three vulgar" crosstalk Guo Degang . He said that he understood Li Bai's feelings very well.
Time flies, and the successor of Zhao Cigong's mantle has always been there, but it is gratifying that Li Taibai may not die.
Getting back to the topic, "Quiet Night Thoughts" have the two characteristics of "recent customs" and "no use for education". This poem is not only not considered a famous work, but may also be a failure in Li Bai's poems.

In terms of the source of the text, "Quiet Night Thoughts" in the Song Shu version of "Li Taibai's Collection" is considered to be authentic to all versions. This version should have been written by Li Bai himself. The content of the whole poem is as follows:
Looking at the moonlight in front of the bed, it is suspected that it is frost on the ground.
looked up at the mountain moon and thought of his hometown.
As for the version you and I are familiar with, it comes from "Selected Tang Poems" in the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty. The editor of the book is the same surname as Li Bai. He is a famous writer in the Ming Dynasty and the leader of the "Last Seven Sons" of the Retro Movement Li Panlong .
In order to avoid confusion, the author will compare these two versions. Because it is a poem that has been sung through the ages, which of the various versions has always been the focus of debate among scholars in later generations.
A scholar in the Qing Dynasty, Wang Yaoqu, believed that the adaptation during the Wanli period was better. He believes that the artistic conception of the poem lies inadvertently. The word "look" in the first sentence of the beginning is purposeful. Moreover, he also said: "If you use the word 'look', what's the power of the word 'look'?"
Wang Yaoqu's meaning is very clear. He believes that the word "look" in Li Bai's original poem is not clever. The first sentence uses this word, and the word "look" in the third sentence has no power.
Opponents also have a clear view. Who stipulated that Li Taibai had to fall asleep at that time, so he would not like to look at the moon with purpose?
As for Wang Yaoqu’s argument, a Japanese scholar even said he could not agree with it.The scholar is named Shou San Morise, and his name is really quite good. This person may be the first to discover that there are different versions of "Quiet Night Thoughts".
Morise Shuzo pointed out in the article: "Look" as a verb echoes the fourth sentence "down the head" and "think of the hometown", which induces readers to yearn for their hometown. The word "look" is an important word that plays a connecting role in the whole poem.
The ancients tried to express the distant artistic conception with concise words. In the third line of the poem, each is "looking at the mountain moon" and "looking at the bright moon". Although there is only one word difference, there is a difference of thousands of miles.
If you want to "look at the mountain moon", the poet must be in "beside the bed", which explains the poet's position; the word "mountain" means lofty, and "head up" and "head down" have a more three-dimensional sense. In contrast, "Looking at the bright moon" seems straightforward and monotonous, lacking room for imagination.
But opponents said again, "Looking up at the bright moon" is more clever. "Looking at the bright moon" follows the first sentence "bright moonlight". Such acceptance is natural and safe. It is called "split grid" in rhetoric, which is a very clever way to use it.

Many scholars wonder what kind of furniture the "bed" of "bright moonlight in front of the bed" is.
If you really lie in the bed, it would be difficult for normal people to both look up and bow their heads. In addition, if you are sleeping in the bed, how can frost be possible in the room? Since there is no frost, how could Li Bai be in contact? Could it be that the poet has drunk too much again?
Li Bai also wrote a song "Changgan Xing", which contains similar examples. These poems are also passed down through the ages, but they are also quite interesting:
The concubine first covered her forehead and played in front of the flower gate.
The man rides a bamboo horse and plays with green plums around the bed.
living together in Changganli, two children are not suspicious,
is the wife of the king, and she has never had a shame.
The little boy was riding a bamboo horse and running around the bed to chase his sister. Wouldn’t he be afraid of being scolded? Don’t say that the author is nitpicking and admitting the truth. The one who raises questions is the famous Guo Moruo .
Ma Weidu is a great collector and is also a master I have ever seen. He expressed his opinion: The "bed" in Li Bai's poem is not the bed where he sleeps, but is actually a horse stool, which was called "Hu Bed" in ancient times.
Mr. Ma also cited Bai Juyi's "Yongxing" as a circumstance:
There is a small boat on the pond and a Hu bed in the boat.
There is new wine in front of the bed, and you can drink it alone and taste it alone.
It is indeed unrealistic to put down the entire bed in the boat, but putting a stool in it seems both reasonable and appropriate.
There was also a figure of "Hu Biao" in Li Bai's own poems. In " Cursive Songs and Songs ", he described the "Cursive Saint" Huaisu in this way:
My teacher leaned on the rope bed after getting drunk, and swept thousands of pictures in a moment.
The wind and rain are shaking, and the falling flowers and snow are so vast.
The "rope bed" in the poem is also called "Hu bed", which is also called "Hu bed".
But specifically in "Quiet Night Thoughts", a horse stool was placed there in isolation, which was somewhat a bit of a shame.Moreover, wouldn’t it be a bit pretentious if a person sits on a stool and uses "behind the bed" to distinguish the directions?
In the "Rhyme Book" compiled by Huang Gongshao of the Yuan Dynasty, there is the following statement: "'Bed' means 'well dry', which is the railing on the well." So another scholar pulled Li Bai down from the bed and drove the poet into the courtyard.
Comparing well rails to beds has also been precedents before. For example, in ancient Yuefu poems, there is a sentence like "Drilling a well in the back garden to make a silver bed, and a golden bottle is used to draw cold slurry."
, and the Tang Dynasty poet Li He even wrote a poem directly with the title of "Drilling a Well in the Back Garden". This poem is also written very warmly:
Turning on the well on the bed.
The sound of water is frequent and the sound of strings is shallow.
What is the love, Xun Fengqian.
The sun is coming to the city.
works for a thousand years in a day, and there is no need to flow.
Treat a day as a thousand years, and the sun will not set. The most affectionate couple in the world live the most boring life and can be seen for a lifetime in one day.
China is a major agricultural country, and the Chinese have endless emotions towards water wells. As early as the pre-Qin period, people sang "Song of Fighting the Ring":
was written at sunrise, and the sun was in and rested at sunrise.
Drill a well and drink, and cultivate the fields and eat.
From the well, the poet must also see the home. What "Quiet Night Thoughts" want to express is a strong homesickness.

Lu You of the Song Dynasty, and wrote a song " Chaitou Feng ". The opening two sentences of the lyrics are: "Red and crisp hands, yellow wine, spring scenery of palace walls and willows all over the city" . Isn’t it a bit too exaggerated to use “red and crisp” to describe a beautiful hand? Isn’t it a bit inappropriate to put the beauty’s hands together with the wine?
The ancients said that "poetry is not clear", and there is no clear or unchanging explanation for the same poem. This is the unique charm of poetry, and this is also the reason why this official account exists.
