According to TEU calculations, Evergreen Shipping's handheld orders are also ranked second only after Mediterranean Shipping.
Among the top 10 integrated transport companies in the world, Mediterranean Shipping ranked second in handheld orders, but the capacity growth rate was the highest. The company has ordered a total of 54 ships, totaling 925,900 TEU, and handheld orders account for 22.1% of the existing fleet. Although Evergreen shipping has higher orders, its capacity is not as good as Mediterranean shipping, indicating that Mediterranean shipping mainly focuses on building large ships. It is understood that at the beginning of this month, Evergreen Shipping also announced that it would spend US$958 million to US$1.098 billion to order 24 branch container ships in Wenchong, Huangpu. This batch of new ships will comply with the latest international environmental protection regulations and carbon emission requirements, and will be expected to be put into the Asian near-ocean line market after delivery. This is the second large-scale shipbuilding of Evergreen Shipping this year after 20 15,000 TEU ships in March. The industry pointed out that the world will soon implement new carbon emission restrictions in 2023, and Evergreen Shipping has been deployed ahead of schedule. The new ships currently ordered will be added in 2023, and the fleet will be updated in a timely manner, significantly enhancing the competitiveness of the global market in 2023, and is expected to open the gap with its competitors again.
