Royal Delft
Delft blue porcelain is very destined to China. The Dutch East India Company brought back blue porcelain from China in the 17th century, which brought inspiration for Dutch ceramicists because this fragile porcelain is never made or seen before. The Delft blue pattern is European style and color . It absorbs the glaze characteristics and blue dyeing technology of Chinese blue and white porcelain, and also draws on the color painting methods of Japan Imari and Kashiemon to create a unique porcelain pattern.
1695 Blue porcelain manufacturing industry flourished in Delft, with at most 32 pottery factories. By 1840, only the Royal Delft Blue Porcelain Factory remained, and other porcelain factories were closed down, mainly due to competition between Wedgwood in the UK and the European porcelain industry, coupled with the lack of innovation in Delft's porcelain. Joost Thooft acquired Royal Delft in 1876 and hired Leo Senf, one of the most important designers in Royal Delft history, which played a positive role in the re-prosperity of Delft Blue.
1919 Royal Delft Blue Porcelain Factory was awarded the title of "Royal" by the Dutch royal family, which is an absolute affirmation of the contribution of Royal Delft Company to Dutch Delft Blue. Delft Blue is still hand-painted according to traditional methods. Royal Delft offers a variety of painting courses , with 3 different painting courses 7 days a week: porcelain pieces, tableware and Christmas items.
