When she was 1 year and 1 month old, Xiao Xi, who had just learned to walk, was discovered by her mother that something was wrong. She could lift her left foot, but her right foot was always dragging. Xiaoxi's mother immediately took her to the hospital for examination. The doctor said that Xiaoxi had flat feet.
Even though she had put on a plaster cast and worn orthotic insoles, Xiaoxi's dragging feet had not improved significantly. On September 28 this year, Xiao Xi fell slightly on the flat ground and broke her right leg. After several levels of referrals from Fenglin Town, Yangxin County to Wuhan People's Hospital, Xiaoxi was diagnosed with a rare disease called congenital tibial pseudoarthrosis. The general incidence rate is 250,000 to 400,000. one.
According to doctors, people suffering from this disease are very prone to fractures, which are difficult to heal. If they want to recover, they need bone grafting. But Xiao Xi was only 1 year and 7 months old, so she couldn't use autogenous bone transplantation, and artificial bone had no regenerative ability, so the doctor suggested taking bones from immediate family members. Xiao Xi's mother resolutely decided to remove her own bones. She choked and said, "As long as she can stand up, I am willing to do anything. I am not afraid."
On November 21st, mother and daughter went into the operating room at the same time. On one side, the doctor cleans the child's fracture, fixes it, and corrects it; on the other side, he takes a bone graft from the mother's iliac bone based on the amount of bone defect. The operation was successfully completed two hours later.
Removal of the mother's iliac bones will not affect her life, and whether these bones can survive in the little one's body requires two or three months of observation.
