Jingzhou Cushi was originally stationed in Hanshou, Wuling County, and later moved to Xiangyang, South County by Liu Biao. No one doubted that Cao Cao would unite the world. Sun and Liu's coalition took advantage of Cao Cao's unwillingness to attack, and Chibi burst Cao Cao's rule in Jingzhou to collapse and was forced to retreat to Nanyang.

After the war, Soochow took Jiangxia from Liu Bei as a gateway, and attacked the main points of Southern County along the Yangtze River to relieve the upper reaches of the threat, and occupied Dongting Lake as the core In the northern part of Changsha County, expand the scope of naval activities. Liu Bei gave up Jiangxia and seized the four counties of Jiangnan. Guan Yu attacked Xiangyang and drew all the garrisons of the counties, so that Sun Quan had the possibility of sneak attack on Jingzhou. Cao Cao moved the Huainan garrison to reinforce Xiangyang, allowing Sun Quan to concentrate his superior forces to attack Jingzhou.
